11 22 63 ch 9 through 13

 Ch 9 pg 223

Jake comes back to the present and he and Al talk about it.  The picture of Harry on the wall is gone.  Replaced by some guy Al says he doesn't know.  Jake needs sleep, so he gives Al a ride home and says he'll be back to get him and do the time travel at 7 pm.  

Jake's cat wakes him up at 4:45 and he does some googling.  He shells out some cash to get access to the online newspaper archives.  There's an article in the derry paper a out the murder.  He keeps googling and finds one of Harry's sisters. Turns out he died in Vietnam. Fun bit, one of her other brothers was a tech wiz.  Guessing it's cause he found Jake's cell phone.

Jake goes to pick up Al.  He's dead.  So Jake is on his own to try to save JFK.

Ch 10 pg 245

Jake does soooooo good the second time around.  He kills Harry's dad when he's visiting his parents graves and doesn't leave a trace.

He makes $3,000 betting on the world series. 

Ch 11 269 (nice)

Jake feels conflicted on killing Harry's dad.  So he decides he's also gonna do Al's thing to make himself feel better.  With a bit of luck, or maybe divine intervention,  he sees that the hunter that accidentally shot the girl plays cribbage. So instead of blocking the road and faking a heart attack to stop things from happening,  he pays the guy to teach him cribbage all day.

Thing i learned today, Methodists don't gamble.

Ch 12 pg 279

Jake goes to Florida, makes some money gambling and gets the hell out cause he's got a bad feeling.  He makes his way to New Orleans and when he makes a call back to Florida finds out his apartment had been burned down.  He feels real good about following that feeling.  He makes his way to Dallas and starts to monitor Lee Harvey Oswald's family. He won't be there for a couple more years.  He doesn't like Dallas and decides to move to a small town a ways out, but close enough he can easily get to dallas and spy on Oswald's family. 

We're left with a bit of a cliffhanger as he wins a bet in Dallas and Something bad is going to happen on the ride home. 

Ch 13 pg 317

Jake enjoys his small town life and little trips to Dallas.  He's a substitute teacher and he writes his murder novel and he directs the school play.  People like him.  Not sure why.  I don't.  

Big decision,  they want him to teach full time next year.  School is out in June.  Oswald doesn't make it back to America til June 13th.  So he takes the job.

Also, the librarian, who has been important in all this, has what we are lead to believe is a fatal disease and so a new librarian is coming in and she's a buxom beauty so Jake is gonna fall in love with her probably. 

The librarian dies, Jake and the new librarian plan her memorial together.  They don't fall in love.

They go to the first football game together and there is a bit of a flirty energy.  Seems like Stephen is creating a real will they won't they kinda thing.  During the halftime show Jake has a bit of a flashback to the yellow card man.

11 22 63 ch 1 - 8

 Preamble pg 1

Narrator teaches a GED class.  He is divorced and his ex thinks he's not in touch with his emotions. His life changed when he read a story written by a janitor about the time his dad killed most of his family.  Narrator cried when he read that story and he gave the janitor an a plus.

Ch 1 pg 9

To celebrate the janitor getting his GED narrator takes him to a diner called Al's.  Narrator is one of the few regular customers at Al's.  The guy that runs the place is named Al.  There's a time machine or something in his pantry and narrator is going through it. 

Ch 2 pg 29

Narrator goes back in time.  He has some real good rootbeer and gets to wander around town a bit.  

He comes back and Al explains things a bit.  First, when you go back you always go back to the same day and time.  Also, you're always gone for two minutes.  The reason his burgers are so cheap is he buys the meat in the past.  

I wonder where he got the old money to start with.

He has a big plan that he needs narrator's help with.  But the cancer is wearing him.out too much to explain.  He says he's gonna go home,  pop an oxygen and rest and Narrator should come over at 9:30 to talk it over. 

Narrator doesnt really love this idea.  He doesnt wanna waste years of his life in the past

Ch 3 pg 53

Al wants Narrator wants to go back in time and save JFK.  He thought he could do it himself, but then before he got the chance, he was diagnosed with cancer.  At one point he saw Lee Harvey Oswald on the street and could have killed him, but didn't.  His plan now is to try to catch Lee at what is thought to be a previous assassination attempt.   But he can't make it there again. He might only have months to live.  But narrator could try and he'd be back in two minutes. And if Al's impending death wasn't enough of a ticking clock, LL Bean has bought the land the restaurant is on and is kicking Al out so they can build a store there.

Al knows he can change the past cause he went back and stopped a girl from getting shot in a hunting accident and ended up in A wheelchairas a result.  Two things, 1 it was super hard.  Something was trying to stop him from changing the past.  2 narrator's last trip undid said saving.  Every trip back rewrites history.

Ch 4 pg 79

Narrator has a great idea.  He's gonna go back and save the janitor. He tells Al if thus works, then he'll try to save JFK.  Narrator is thinking this is a necessary task before trying to save JFK.  If Al had so much trouble stopping the girl from getting in that wheelchair,  how much harder will it be to stop 3 people from getting murdered?

Al is good with this.  They go down to the diner and Al says he'll start a pot of coffee.  It will be ready by the time narrator comes back.

Ch 5

Narrator has a fun first day in the past.  He's really saz2 all the things that were slightly different than his first visit.  he gets a haircut,  buys a suitcase,  opens a checking account,  gets a cab to the motor inn and throws all the future stuff he accidentally brought with him into a nearby pond.

Ch 6 pg 119

Narrator buys a red convertible and drives to Harry's home town of Darry.  When he gets there he hates it.  Everyone seems to be real standoffs.  Turns out that's on account of the child murders.  The bartender at the bar near Narrator's hotel gives him all the info.  So Narrator is going to do his best to avoid kids and not catch a beating for his trouble.   He has been asking around about Harry's dad.  He says he's and old army buddy name of Dunning.  Harry is informed the town is full of dunning.  Look in a phone book.

Narrator is a bit defeated by this.  How cane find Harry if can't talk to kids and his dead could be one of a long list of dunnings.  

Fate steps in.  Early in his dating career with his ex wife they went swing dancing.  Did competitions.  They mostly danced to in the mood by glen miller.  He hears this song and finds a couple of his tweens dancing to it.  They chat with narrator. They know one of Harry's siblings and give narrator the lowdown. 

Ch 7 pg 149

Narrator is casing Harry's dad to try and come up with a plan to stop him on Halloween night.  This ends with him following him to a grave yard and putting flowers on two graves.

Ch 8 ph 177

Narrator does it.  He saves the janitor. Excited to see what the janitor's life is like now.

Black prism ch 65 - 95

 Ch 65 pg 425

They're making battle plans. Plans that involve building giant walls out of Luxin.  Kip sneaks away.  I'm assuming to try and rescue Karris.

Ch 66 pg 429 kip

Liv catches kip trying to sneak out of town and shes gonna go with him.  Theres a kindly fan of the king recruiting people to the army and he tells them where to go.

Ch 67 pg 436 karris

Karris is having her period and its been 5 months since her last so the pain of the experience is making up for lost time.

She puts on a fancy dress and reminices about her youth.  Big reveal here is that Dazen took her virginity.

Also after Dazen rebelled and she was engaged to Gavin, he took advantage of her one night when she got drunk at a party.

She is taken to the king and his right hand man js her long lost brother Koios.

Ch 68 pg 449 gavin

Gavin is trying to build his wall.  He's got five days til the army gets here.  He got some of the foundation built today.  He is not optimistic about his ability to get the wall built.  In a surprise turn of events a bunch of super powerful drafters have shown up to help.  These are a lot of people that fought on both sides of the war and knew Gavin and Dazen super well.  Gavin is real worried that somebody here is gonna figure out that Gavin is really Dazen.

Ch 69 (nice) pg 456 

Iron fist is gonna go get kip and Liv. Gavin is building the wall.  He's gonna be fine.  He's got Aheyyad on his side.  He's the best.

Ch 70 pg 463 kip

It took them two days to get to the army.  Liz goes to check out the center of camp.  Kip goes to get food and he mistakenly shows the people with food he's got a lot of money.  They try to rob him.  At first it doesnt go well.  He stabs a guy with a liquor bottle and throws him into the fire.  Then a bunch of other guys show up and beat kip up real good.  They are gonna throw him into the fire.  So he uses hus superpowers to kill him.  This attracts the attention of an army drafter and he says the greatest thing.  "You can kill whoever you want , but we prefer you not be so indiscriminate.". Then like an idiot he gives the guy his real name.  I predict that will come back to bite him.

Ch 71 pg 476 Liv

Liv finds Karris.  She hears about a fat boy killing a bunch of people with Fire.  She knows kip is somehow involved, but it.couldn't have been him cause he can only do green and blue.

Ch 72 Gavin

The wall is pretty much done.  But the army is here so the pretty much part is a big problem.  Gavin still has to build the gate.  Real dramatically, as he's almost done a cannon ball goes right through and destroys the gate.

Ch 73 pg 492 

Fight happen and it go bad for gavins side.  But as theyre being overwhelmed via the big hole where the gate should be, gavin digs deep and shoots magic that not only kills everyone in the gate hole, but also burns their bodies to nothingness.  The only man left is the king.  He appears to be invincible as tons of people are shoots guns at him but nobody hits.  Gavin does the next right thing and passes out.

Ch 75 pg 508

Gavin wakes up and his mom is there.  She's gonna do her freeing.  She sends for the general. The general tells Gavin they should flee.  Gavin says he wants to kill the king.

Ch  76 pg 515

Kip is tied up and ends up in the same wagon as karris.

Gavin kills the former governor for trying to flee when orders where no ship leaves the harbor in case they need all ships to evacuate the city .

Ch 78 pg 523

Apprearantly the freeing Is basically you show up and the prism stabs you to death and I guess the theory is you go to heaven.

This chapter flips back and forth between Gavin doing this and the king (or karris's brother.  I was a bit confused as to who was talking.) Giving a speech about how the freeing is a lie.

Also the last guy Gavin puts down has figured out that he's really Dazen.

Ch 79 pg 533

Gavin kills his mom after she drafts one last time.  Theres fun stuff in here abput the.people they killed to keep his secret.

he leaves the room and theres a ton of drafters outside and theyre all "we need.to talk."

Ch 80 pg 540

Kip and karris have these light blocking goggles glued to their faces so they can't see, but they can hear Karris's brother giving his speech.  Then theyre moved and they can hear the king giving his speech.  Then there's cannon fire from the city.  Karris seemed to know this was coming and she blames ironfist.  In the ensuing chaos, kip knocks out one of his goggle lenses and ends up with a musket and now hes part of a group of soldiers storming the city.

Ch 81 pg 545

All the drafters want to help Gavin fight rather than contuing the freeing.  Ther2s a beautiful lady that knows he's Dazen.

Ch 82 pg 549

Kip is in the shit.  All around him people are fighting and dying.  He takes advantage of the chaos and first heads toward the king to kill him.  But then he sees Karris and decides to go help her.  He's tempted by the box with the white luxin dagger and trying to kill Karris's brother. But in the end helping Karrris is the best choice.

Ch 83 pg 554

The boy did it.  He killed a ton of dudes and made it to Karris and melted the black goggles and now the two of them can draft.  They're gonna kill the king together.  I really hope it turns out she's his mom.  What a wonderful mother and son bonding experience killing a king is.

Ch 84 pg 561

karris's sister lord omnicrome has liv tied up and is trying to convince her to join his side.  His main argument is two fold.  

The first is that the chromeria claim that drafters that break the halo go insane is false.  He calls it hatching from the egg.  You become a lot more powerful after you break the halo.  Some drafters can't handle that extra power and do go insane.  But killing anyone that breaks the halo is wrong.  This isn't easy to swallow as it's a pretty big cornerstone of society and if it is true it means everyone has been supporting murder for centuries. 

The second is that the Cromeria sucks.  This Liv immediately agrees with.  

At that moment she sees kip and karris charging up the hill trying to kill the king.  Liv tells lord omnicrome that she will join him if she saves kip and karris.

Ch 85 pg 569

Kip and karris are doing just fine.  Karris is good at staying under the radar and kip is the next prism so he's Killin left and right with his raw power.

Gavin is trying to organize the boats to get everyone out of the city.  Hes set up rules that should allow everyone to escape. But people arent following the rules and he killed the guy that he put in charge of the docks cause he wasletting his mates break the rules.

he sees karris's brother with his cool gun.  He theorizes that lord omnicrome is trying to get rhe king killed.

Ch 87 pg 580

The plan works, Kip kills the king.

Ch 89 Pg  592

Lord omnicrome and his army are gonna destroy everything in their path.  That includes Kip and Karris.  But then super heros come and save them so they can get out.  As they get to the docks karris realizes that Dazen is Gavin.

Ch 91 pg 602

People are trying to kill ironfist and kip saves him.  An assasin with the white luxin dagger is trying to kill Gavin and kip saves him too.  Also, kip ends up with the dagger.  Good chapter for kip.

Ch 92 pg 610 the real Gavin

Damn, the boy did it.  He blew a hole in the wall.  FREEDOM!!!!! I wonder if the dead man he keeps talking about is Karris's brother. 

Ch 93 pg 615

Gavin and kip have a great father son moment. Then he finds a note from his mom telling him that Gavin raped her and ruined her life and that kip should use the dagger to kill Gavin.

Ch 94 pg 619

Gavin escapes from the blue prison into a green prison.  At that moment he's sure there's seven prisons.  It took him 16 years to escape the first prison.  He is not optimistic about his odds of escaping the rest.

Ch 95 pg 621

Gavin and the general have a nice talk. Gavin realizes he can't draft blue.  He's dying.

Divinci's cat parts 3 and 4

 Ch 17

Fred and bee talk about stuff.  They're gonna hang tonight and tomorrow they're gonna go see Raphael. 

Ch 18

Bee finds a pot to piss in while Fred is distracting his maid and tutor.

Ch 19

Fre dresses Bee so they can go see Raphael. 

Ch 20

They walk to Raphael and all the way people are calling Fred my lord and bowing and we run into the architect with all the keys that fred stole once when he overserved him and the pop, but herb never showed up so fred couldn't show him the Sistine chapel.  Michaelangelo shows up and insults the architect and they keep walking to Raphael.  Fred warns Bee that they're going through the pope's palace and to be competent.

Ch 21

Fred takes Bee to the aviary so she has a place to hang out until its late enough for them to sneak Raphael into the Sistine chapel.

Ch 22

SOOOO much drama in this chapter.  Fred goes back to his room and like ALL his people are here and they all scream at him for missing his lesons and they beat him for hiring this new page without asking them about it.  They have all heard the stories about Bee's horrible behavior and its gonna be real bad when they tell his parents.  

He waits til late and then gets Bee and goes to the chapel.  They use the key to get in.  But Michelangelo is there.  He throws a bucket and hits Raphael in the head.  Chaos ensues and Bee and Fred go back trough the cabinet to the future.  The first thing Fred sees in the future is an encyclopedia open to am entry on him saying his lifetime was 1500 to 1511.  That can't be good.

Ch 24 pg 197

Bee comes out of the closet and shes in herbs office but its wierd.  Its not dusty.  She goes downstairs and theres a man and a woman she doesnt know.  Shhe runs back upstairs and frantically tries to make phonecalls.  She finds Fred and she reads him  his encyclopedia entry.  It says he disappeared in 1511 and Michelangelo was the prime suspect and he fled to Florence and died a couple weeks later.  Also there's a 1942 calendar on the wall.

Part 4

Ch 25 pg 209

They go back through the wardrobe to 1511 and Fred bribes the stable man to let him borrow the fastest horse to chase after Michelangelo who he knows is headed to Florence thanks to the encyclopedia. 

Ch 26 pg 218

After Fred leaves a Swiss guard comes along and asks Bee what's going on.  She says she doesn't know and the guard grabs her and drags her down some stairs and throws her in a cell.

Ch 27 pg 225

Fred has a rough ride.  He's attacked by bandits twice.   He makes it to Michelangelo and gets a door slammed in his face for his trouble.

Ch 28 pg 233

Turns out Bee isn't in a prison cell, she's just in one of the dorm rooms for the Swiss guard. There's someone else in there with her.  It's Raphael. She has the key so she takes him to the sistine chapel. 

Ch 29 pg 240

Fred gets Michelangelo to return to Rome by explaining how famous he's going to be if he finishes painting the Sistine chapel. 

Ch 30 pg 248

Raphael draws Bee and signs it.  She's about to go through the wardrobe when Fred shows up.  She gives him the drawing to put in a chest so Herb can find it in the future. 

Ch 31

The Pope and the architect dismantle the cabinet cause its for spies and the pope doesnt wanna take any chances.  A swiss guard named Franz Giovanni comes along and with his carpentry background he agrees to turn the dismantled pieces of the cabinet into a trunk with a hidden compartment for Raphael's sketch of Bee.  Juno comes back.  Also the Swiss guard offers to become Fred's body guard since his time as a swiss guard is almost up.  Also somehow chocolate shows up.

Ch 32 Pg 267

They all live happily ever after. 

Divinci's cat parts 1 and 2

 Ch 1 

Frederico is a child prisoner of the pope to ensure his family's support.  He doesn't have any friends.  He does get the perk of interacting with some of the greatest artists of the time like Michelangelo and Raphael.  He gets a little excited when he realizes Michelangelo is spying on Raphael. But gossip isn't worth anything if you don't have a friend to tell.  He finds a kitten and he's super psyched. The kitten goes into a wardrobe and disappears.  Moments later there's a cat and Frederico decides that this is kitten all grown up.  The cat heads to the wardrobe and Frederico is like, no no that's way too dangerous. 

Ch 2

Frederico gets a collar for his cat.  He writes a short letter to his mom.  He inspects the wardrobe.  It's got mirrors and a ball full of water.  Federico thinks it's all about reflecting light.  But why would you go to the trouble when you can light a candle.  As he's inspecting,  cat gets away and goes into the wardrobe. A man comes out of the cabinet holding the cat and says nice to meet you 

Ch 3 pg 21

The man says he's herb from new jersey and the cat is named Juno. Frederico shows herb around and one of the paintings he sees is og herb.  Herb gives Frederico some chocolate.  With peanuts in it.  He makes Frederico a deal. If Frederico can get his hands on some of Michelangelo or Raphael's sketches, herb will buy them from him for chocolate.  To Fernando this is a no Brainer.  Trade what's essentially garbage for the most delicious food he's ever tasted.

Ch 4 pg 30

We find out that Juno is Divinci's cat. Frederico sneaks into the pope's office to steal a couple sketches to trade to herbert.  When he returns the mood is somber.   Some one has stolen all of Raphael's papers.

Ch 5

Herb is the stealer . But really Frederico doesn't care.  He's VERY morally flexible when chocolate is involved. Herb puts on what he thinks are fancy clothes and asks to meet Raphael. Frederico is like, hell no, that outfit sucks.  He will get herb clothes he can meet Raphael in, but it's gonna cost him ALot of chocolate. 

Ch 6 pg 46

Frederico takes Juno to see Raphael. He says sorry about the drawings that were stolen.  Raphael isn't bothered by it.   He'll just draw more.  The General idea seems to be that paintings are valuable and sketches are not.  This is reinforced when Frederico goes to see Michelangelo painting the sistene chappel and as soon as he has no further use for his sketches he tears them up into bits.  Frederico wishes he had those sketches to trade for chocolate. 

Ch 7 pg 54

Herbert comes with clothes that are now worthy of Frederico's standards.  He has a beard and Grey hair.  It's been 12 years for him.  He leaves to go see Raphael. He has a drawing that he needs to have signed so he can sell it for TONS of money.  Frederico tells him it's not safe.  Frederico follows herbert and there's a girl with the plague or something and a Swiss guard spots Frederico and drags him back to the pope abd herbert takes the girl back through the cabinet to the present cause he's all like, this girl ain't dying on my watch.

Ch 8 pg 62

The guy with all the keys is supping with the pope.  Frederico volunteers to serve them dinner rather than the normal servers.  He way overserves them wine and they both end up passing out.  He takes the keys so he can show herbert the sistene chappel. Not only doesn't herbert come, but Juno goes through the cabinet back to the future. 

Part 2

Ch 9 pg 72

Theres a girl named bee.  She and her.mom are staying at an old house where someone once found a drawing by Michelangelo that they sold for 6.5 mil.  Be catches a cat that caught a bird.  She takes the.cat to tue neighbors house and a scary old lady calls the cat Juno.

ch 10 pg 82

Crazy Italian lady is Herb's daughter.  So we're way in the future from where we used to be.  Crazy Italian lady has a drawing that looks JUST like bee that she claims was drawn by Raphael. 

Ch 11 pg 90

Bee is home alone cause mom is at her talk and moo is still on the train.  She is staring at the woman from Italy house and she swears she sees lights flicker in the morse code SOS pattern.  She calls mom and moo hoping one of them will give her permission to go over there.  They both say to stay put.

Ch 12 pg 98

She goes over to the woman from Italy house anyway cause she's an idiot child and this is what idiot children do when left to their own devices. 

She's fallen and she can't get up.  Bee calls her an ambulance. 

Ch 13 pg 106

Bee goes looking around the house after the woman from Italy is taken away.

Ch 14 pg 114

Bee finds the wardrobe and gets in and fully expects to be transported to Narnia.  But instead she's transported to darkness.

Ch 15 pg 121

Bee goes through the wardrobe and is sad to find Frederico instead of Mr Tumnus.  She quickly gathers the whole situation and the action item is Raphael needs to draw her.

Ch 16 pg 129

Old Italy smells bad.  Bee convinces Frederico to help her get drawn by Raphael and get gum to sign it.

Hyperion 6

 Pg 411

They're getting close to the time tubes.

They're gonna spend the night in some spooky place before they head in.  A couple fun things happen here.  They see true war fighting happening out in space.   It's a ways out in the solar system. So not really a danger to them.  But fun to watch like they're really distant fireworks if you ignore the whole people dying part.

Pg 421 

The consul's tale: remembering siri

The consul says before he can tell his story he's gotta tell someone else's story. So he puls put his zune and everyone listens to this other story about this other guy.

the.other guy is at a funeral.  Siri is dead.  He somehow has children that are older than him.

This other guy is a space cowboy.  He's got a contract on a ship that takes stuff to and from the new Maui colony.  When he was 19 he fell in love with siri when she was 16.  Relativity is hell  on a relationship. The next time he comes back he's 19 and she's 26. They talk to dolphins.

They go to the festival to party and the guys friend from the ship is there and there's some separatists that hate the shippers and his friend is killed by siri's cousin and our guy kills a bunch of separatists.

Pg 447

We're back at Siri's funeral.  Our guy is being encouraged to do a thing to wrap up the show.

our guy is named merin.  He 's on a fishing boat with Siri.  She's 70 years old.  She 's worried about whats going to happen to the planet when they turn on the farcaster and her pla net joins the hegemony.

He says politicians and scientists and other friends will come.  It will get ugly when the petroleum industry comes.  She's surprised they haven't moved past there being a petroleum industry.  Merin has a great line "No one gets beyond a petroleum economy.  Not when there's Petroleum."

Pg 454

Back to siri's funeral again.  The tomb is empty.  His son tells him she was cremated.  There's a secret box for him.  It has a bomb.  A bomb that Siri has given him to blow up the farcaster.  He does.

Pg 461

We're back on hyperion watching the space battle.

Consul explains that he's merin and Siri's grandson.  Merin made this recording before he went off to die fighting the hegemony. Now the consul is going to tell his story. 

The consul's story is a hoot.  His father became a senator when pretty much the rest of the family joined the rebellion.  But really he and the consul have always been part of the Maui rebellion.   The consul, due to his dad's influence,  gets a sweet job being consul on far out worlds.  I don't remember the details,  but he does stuff thats impressive to the point where he can pretty much go wherever.   So he goes to some world where he can communicate with the ousters.  He finds out fun things like the technocore destroyed earth with a black hole.  They come up with a scheme to release the shrike, which will somehow be good for the ousters. It doesn't go great for the ousters cause they show up to do the thing and the consul kills them and turns on the machine to free the shrike.  I guess the idea is the shrike will kill the technocore.  Idk.

So now we're in the present and the group is discussing how to Best kill this traitor. They decide not to.

Pg 476 epilogue

They all hold hands and sing "We're off to see the Wizard" as they make their way to the Shrike.

Gavin tells Devin that he found his bastard child. 

But it's not Devin's bastard child, it's Gavin's bastard child. Because Gavin is Devin.  In their final battle Devin assumed Gavin's identity.  Awesome. 

He runs into the white.  She tells him he's late for class.  He asks about the girl from Kip's village. She is the daughter of Devin's old General.  Makes it even more exciting now that Gavin is Devin.

Ch 37 pg 218 Kip

Kip goes to testing.  The guy doing the testing punches him.  Then some other guy comes in and throws that guy out.  Then a girl comes in and they do a bunch of tests to see how well he can see colors.  He is perfect.  He's a super color seer.  Then iron fist comes and and is all WTF, I told the other guy to put him through the thresher.  The other testers are like, fuck no and Iron fist is like fuck yes, this kid is leaving with the prism tomorrow amd needs to be put through the thresher now.  Everyone else is like who is this kid that makes him so special.  Kip blurts out that he's gavins son.  Everyone is now amenable to the thrasher.

Ch 38 pg 229 Liv

Liv and her class are walking up a steep staircase to class at the top of a tower.  Gavin is there.  Shenhannegans ensue and the punchline is that Gavin ( who's really Devin and was super good friends with her father ) recognizes her as a bichrome and this instantly makes her life infinitely better.  

Ch 39 pg 238 Gavin

Gavin is a little crazy.  Being locked up all alone for a long time will do that to you.  But learning of his son has given him hope.  He is able to make a blue blade and cut off his red hair and somehow this is going to help him escape.

Ch 40 pg 242 Devin (he calls himself Gavin but he's really Devin.)

Gavin meets with the color guard and telks them they have to give the city of garrison back to the tyreans or their new king is going to take it by force.  They vote to send an investigatory group there.  It will take two months to go, investigate and return.

Ch 41 pg 255 liv

Liv got a loan so she could pay back the people that were paying for her color magic training. The lady is not pleased by this.  She says either Liv spies on the the prism or she's gonna ruin liv's life.  Liv gives her the money and tells her to fuck off or die.  The bad lady leaves.  Shortly after there's a knock on her door.  Luv us gonna kill this chick.  But it's not her.  It's the prisms slave with a message, come at your earliest convenience. She doesn't know what to wear.  So she says fuck it and just goes in her work clothes.

Ch 42 pg 263 Karris

She and the general (who everyone thinks is dead cause everyone else in their village is) are trying to go after the Tyrean Army. A scout spots them and they try to take them down before they can get word back.  But it's a trap abd karis us captured.  The General might have hit her over the head.

Ch 43 pg 269 kip

He goes through the thrasher.  It sucks.  You're basically tortured until you pull the rope.  Only one person ever didn't pull the rope.  Dazen.  The real point of the thresher is that while you're being tortured your inner oovra comes out in your fear and from that they can see what colors you can draft.

Ch 44 pg 281 Liv

Liv goes to see Devin (who everyone thinks is Gavin) and he asks her to tutor Kip and keep him humble.  Then he f

Uses color magic to fly them down to the courtyard near the testing chamber.  He blurts out some orders and goes inside.

Ch 45 pg 290 gavin

Gavin yells at the girl that put the rope back in in Kip's hand.  Kip tested positive for blue and green and inconclusive for superviolet.  Gavin did something to the testing stone with ultraviolet.  Not sure exactly what. Gavin brings in Liv and she take Kip to his room.

Ch 46 pg 298 kip

Liv tries to take kip to his room.  She realizes she has no idea where that would be so they go to her room instead.  He tells her about the town and he thinks her dad is dead.  She doesn't believe it.  Her dad is a badass, if Kip got out, he got out too. She's right, but Kip doesn't know this.

Ch 47 pg 306 Dazen

His dad doesn't know he's not Gavin.  You'd expect his dad might want to talk about his bastard grand son Kip.  Nope, not interested at all.  His main priority is to see that he got the white luxin dagger.  He assumes this must be a super important thing his dad and Gavin used to talk about.  EVERYTHING depends on the white luxin dagger.  A dagger thay Dazen didn't know existed until right now and so he lies to his dad and says he just didn't think that the random box the king claimed Kip's mother stole from him would house a white luxin dagger.

Dazen"s dad over extended himself in the prism war and now has to live in complete darkness.

So Dazen has his marching orders.  Go to garrison,  do whatever you want with the town, but kill the king and get the white luxin dagger.  Then when he brings it back to his dad, he'll find him a good woman to settle down with.

Ch 48 pg 314

Liv's best friend finds her and tells her she's being thrown out of hogwarts.  Her supporter lost money or whatever.  It's all bs.  This was the doing of Liv's old supporter who's just the worst.  She says she's bought her feiends contract and she's gonna end up being a whore on a galley until she's likely killed as that's what usually happens to women on galleys. So Liv says she'll spy on the prism for her.

Ch 49 pg 319 Dazen

Dazen's mother knows he's Dazen.  She has helped him to be Gavin.  He's shared most things with her as she's the only one that he can be honest with.  But he told her Gavin was dead.  So he doesn't tell her everything. 

Ch 50 pg 326 kip

Kip wakes up on liv's floor.  There's a lady that tries to.kill him.  It doesn't work out.  It especially doesn't work out when Liv shows up and does something so cool I'm going to explain it.  She sends a line of ultraviolet luxin to the lady's face.  Then she sends a bead of yellow luxin along that string and it explodes in her face.  Using her newly authorized yellow powers, she can make gun happen whenever she wants.  Physical violence is cool.  I could totally see that happening in slow motion on the TV show on HBO that my cousin should work on.

Ch 51 pg 332

Gavin (don't forget he's really Dazen) is talking to the white.  He's going to Garrison. She speaks to the impractical nature of this idea cause it's gonna take so long.  Then she kinda tricks him into telling her his flying speedboat trick.  Knowing it'll be fast, she's no longer arguing against this.  They also talk about Kip's trst and what Gavin did and I still don't understand. But if in the end there's fatherly love involved, it'll all be worth it.

Ch 52 pg 337 Karris 

Karris and the king talk.  He wants to marry her.

Ch 53 pg 344

Kip tells Gavin about the murder attempt.  Gavin says it's time to get the fuck out of dodge. Liv is coming with. 

Ch 54 pg 349

Gavin is trying to escape.  He's woven something out of his own hair and he channeled enough blue to cut his chest open and shove the woven hair thing in.  Somehow this will result in either escape or death.

Ch 55 pg 351

They're packing up to leave.  

Ironfist nakes Kip also carry Liv's pack.  Its more complicated for girls.

Ironfist is famous so it's a bit awkward for kip walking through the city cause people keep slowing down to stare at him.  But they get to the docks and Gavin is there and people don't slow down to stare at him, they stop completely. Tons of people trying to get close enough to touch his robes as he walks by.

Kip thinks to himself "What am I doing with these people?"

There is a pirate ship.  They destroy it.

They make it to garrison and make their introduction to the docmaster and Liv and kip are sent away while Gavin and iron fist take care of business. 

Ch 58 pg 370

Liv teaches kip some stuff and gives him a pair.of green glasses.

Ch 59 pg 377

As we are aware, Liv's dad is alive.  He makes his way to garrison and talks his way into the palace and meets Gavin.  I'm so happy for Liv. 

Ch 60 pg 385

Corvan Danavis knows that Gavin is really Dazen.  So really this is a tearful reunion of old friends.  But they can't show that in public.  So they hatch a scheme that Corvan will be in charge of the Army to defend the town against the king's assault.  But they're both gonna be real begrudging about the whole thing to keep up appearances that this is a marriage of convenience at a desperate time.  Corvan also tells Dazen about Karris being captured and while Dazen is a but worried, he's confident she'll be ok in the end.  Dazen doesn't tell Corvan about Liv or Kip, but he sends them down to the room they're in.

Ch 61 pg 393

Liv is trying to teach Kip more theory. This whole thing is Hella awkward. If Kip could do me a favor and try to be friends with Liv and focus on the work and forget about his childhood crush I'd really appreciate it.  But I feel that about basically every boy in every fantasy novel.  I'm gonna have to be comfortable with being uncomfortable. 

Liv's dad shows up and somehow it makes things even more awkward. 

Ch 62 pg 398

Gavin gets kip, says they're going for a walk.  He says he doesn't eat until he's made a green luxin ball.  There's a fun thing where a wagon has broken down and they think they're gonna have to shut down that gate for the day, which is gonna suck.  Gavin saves the day.  Everyone loves him.  ❤️ 

Kip doesn't get to eat yet cause he hasn't created a green ball yet.

Ch 63 pg 409

Liv doesn't like this whole situation. From her perspective Gavin killed her mom and no matter what she and her dad should hate him forever because of that.  Especially when the people their going to fight is their country's. 

We know that he knows that Gaven is really Dazen and that's why he's happy to lead the army this time. But he can't tell her.

Ch 64 pg 416

Kip is having a heck of a time creating a green ball.  Gavin tells him the key word for green is wild.  The governor shows up and starts to complain at Gavin.  Kip has a lot of negative thoughts and feelings and I don't know how but that brings out his wild side and he creates the ball.  Then he goes nuts and throws the ball at the governor. It's far more forceful than he expected. One of the governor's guards comes after him with a sword.  A blue luxin wall appears and kip is saved.  The governor demands satisfaction and Gavin demands that he fuck right off.  Iron fist was the one that made the blue wall that saved him.
