Lije is a police detective. He doesn't like robots or space people. We are in New York city in the future when robots and space people are common place.
A spaceman has been murdered. Lije is on the case and his partner is a robot spaceman.
Ch 2
We're world building here. Fun tidbit, Asimov thinks after we have 8 billion people we will have wide spread starvation. He's not wrong, but we also had widespread starvation when we had 5 billion people.
The robot detective looks like a man
Ch 3
On the way to Lije's place (if8 his wife doesn't throw a fit about this i will ) there's a bit of a mobile scene because a shoe store has robot clerks. Robot detective solves the problem by threatening to kill everyone with his gun.
Ch 4
Backstory of detective and his wife.
Mostly world building. This world sucks ass. There's a caste system and every one is crammed into cities which are fully enclosed. Worst of all, you have to earn privacy credits to earn the ability to eat on your own God DAMNED HOME!!!! otherwise you have to eat with your neighbors in a communal eating room.
Ooh, I almost forgot, you don't have your 9wn bathroom. Everyone has to use public toilets and showers and whatnot.
Ch 5
Detective and rovot talk about the murder they're trying to solve. Robot has an amazing idea. The murderer entered the place where only space people live via the countryside.
The detective 's wife is named Jessie (hey jessie) and she and their son leave so rovot and man can talk alone and when she comes home she is maybe a little drunk cause she's all, Mr, I think you might be a robot. And he's all, yes I am. It amused me.
Ch 6
Jessie is worried that if people find out there's a robot living here there will be a riot and they'll die in the riot.
Ch 7
Detective gets to space town and declares there has been no murder. His robot partner is the man that was supposedly murdered.
Ch 8
