ch 33 holden pg 343

Holden is sad that the Rocinante is getting ready to head out without his crew.  Drummer swears they're a good crew and Holden shouldn't feel bad about having a different crew on his ship.  Holden calls Monica to clear the air.  That's when she gets Naomi's message.  Holden immediately calls Drummer and says to shut downt he reactor.

ch 34 alex pg 353

Alex and the Prime Minister and his group of security groups are making their way to the Razorback.  They get a wayz and they meet resistance.  one of the resistors recognizes Alex and in chitchatting the belter calls Naomi a traitor and say they've got her locked up on the Pella.  Bobbie shows up in her superhero suit and quickly turns the resistors into dust.  They make their way to the Razorback and realize that Bobbie won't fit with her armor.  So they rip out a crash couch and she's just gonna hang on.  So she and Alex and the Prime Minister start making their way to the moon.  But they've got missles coming after them, so we'll see how well this goes.

ch 35 naomi pg 363

She is in the medical 🚑 bay.  She kicks the doctor in the nuts.  They fight and the doctor is winning til somone else shows up and separates them.  She gets a talking to about how she's better off not causing so much trouble.  Marco wants her here,  but he won't put up with this forever.  Naomi coughs up a device that can trigger airlocks.  Now if she can get a space suit she can kill some people.

ch 36 holden 372,

Holden talks to their hacker.  They found the code that was gonna blow up the ship when it got up to a 95% charge from the reactor.  This code could have been the cause of thousands of deaths everyone else thinks we're accidents. They get the ship on the way to the moon.  It has not blown up yet.  Fred and Holden have a long talk about all of this and their different options.  Right now diplomacy seems to be the best one.

Bobbie asks Alex about his kid.  Alex says he doesn't have one.

“You don’t? I thought you did.”

You and me both Bobbie.

The belters are shooting missiles at them.  They have guns and Bobbie is using them to shoot the mistles so the.ship doesn't blow up.  

Marco makes his official statement and i.like it a lot...

“I am Marco Inaros. I am commander of the Free Navy. And I call upon all free men and women of the Belt to rise up now in joy and glorious resolve. The Free Navy pledges you all the safety of our protection. This day is ours. Tomorrow is ours. The future of humanity is ours. Today, and forevermore, we are free.”

ch 38 amos 392

They make their way to Baltimore.  They find Erich.  They pitch the idea of stealing a space ship to get to the moon.  Erich is not buying what they're selling.  He's the king of the Baltimore underworld.  He ain't going nowhere.  Peaches talks about how she lost everything too and it took her a while to sink in.  Also she tells a story about a lady in prison that killed her family but always spoke of them in the present 🎁 tense.  That gets to Erich.  He sons uncontrollably for about fifteen minutes and then there's a "you son of a bitch..." moment.

ch 39 naomi  402m

Naomi doesn't wanna die, but she doesn't wanna be here anymore and she knows that if she escapes Marco will never stop looking for her and he's got a navy now.  So getting out of his clutches might be possible but staying out of his clutches is another thing all together.  

So she's decided to fake a suicide so Filip and Marco thinks she's dead.  She goes to talk to Filip, I don't remember the details but your mother's a whore.  He's gonna feel bad 👎 when he thinks she's dead.

ch 40 amos 411

They make it to this island hideaway for rich people that peaches knows about.  She used a code fro m back in the day and it works.  Miracles happen every day.  They find some people hangi mg out.  There is some tension and Amos thinks we might have a lot of dead people.  But then it turns out peaches knows these people.  She makes nice and asks if there's a ship.  There is.  But then some security guys show up trying to assert their dominance.  It doesn't go well for them.  It's time to go before the security guys come back with more guys and guns.  Problem, the ship is broken.  I'm the bright 🌞 side, it's big enough that everyone can fit in it.  Amos is gonna fix it up and take everyone to the moon.  Why is he gonna do something so kind?  “Seems like the sort of thing Holden’d do.”

ch 41 naomi 421

It's time for Naomi to make her daring escape.  The plan was to get a suit and launch herself out an airlock but hide the paper trail

so Marco thinks she's dead.  But she didn't really have the time to do all that.  She ends up in an airlock with Cyn.  He is begging her to stay and know that she is loved cause she's a belter and now more than ever belters need to love other belters.  But she opens the airlock anyway and the two of them are launched into space.

 but this is Naomi's plan and she ends up making it into the airlock of another ship.  She years her own voice putting out a distress call to Holden.  This looks like it was all a set up by Marco to lure out Holden.  If that's true, I think I love him even more, the crazy genius bastard.

ch 42 holden 431

Fred and Holden do a lot of talking about Marco.  He has always been smal! Time  how is he pulling off this big time opperation.  Fred is thinking someone better or smarter or bigger is pulling the strings.  They find the ship Naomi is on and Holden is all in on getti mg that ship.  Fred is.like "can we at least be careful?" And Holden gets all posts about it.  I know it's a trap cause Marco is so baller, but Holden finds the idea 💡 that it might be offensive.  But he settles down and agrees it might be a trap.  He calls Alex to see 👀 if he can help.

ch 43 alex 441

Alex gets Holden's message and is similarly all in on trying to save Naomi.  Bobbie reminds him they have the prime minister of Mars on the ship and have orders to get him safely to the moon.  They have to do their duty to Mars and that's more important than Naomi.  Also it's a trap so don't go fall into a trap.  Alex makes the case that this is space and the basic rule that any ship that receives a distress call has a duty to respond to it.  The Martian prime minister agrees.  He also brings up the point that if they save Naomi, they will have a friendly witness to what Marco has been doing.  Bobbie doesn't like it cause it's a trap and she doesn't want to die.  But she's outvoted so they're going after Naomi.  They return Holden's message to say they're going to check ✔ Naomi's ship out, but if anything is out of sorts, they're going to bail.

ch 44 naomi 448

Naomi is awake ⏰ and she's gonna try to get herself out of this situation.she's gonna get some tools and try to drop the core.  This ship sucks.  She cuts a wire and one of the thrusters stops making noise and she assumes that means it's stop functioning. she is able to verify that on the scopes that the ship.is now kinda spinning rather than going straight ahead.  She's pulling out wires trying to get control of the ship.  She is using vac suits that can only hold five minutes of air so all of this effort is being accomplished in five.minute increments.  And her body isn't really working that well.  She hears Alex and he's got fifteen missiles in case the person in the ship isn't Naomi.  She is pretty sure the ship is gonna explode.  She needs to.figure out a way to.tell Alex to get out of there.

ch ch 45 amos 458

Whip cream 🍦 is better than yogurt.  At least that's what my wife tells me our dog told her.

Peaches and Amos and some of Erich's crew are fixing up the ship.  They think they should be able to head out in 45 minutes or so.  Some guy asks Amos if he can go get someone else.  Amos says they're leaving in 45 minutes and if they're not here, they are getting left behind.  Those security aholes show up with friends and Amos helps to hold them off while Erich fires up the ship.  There's a fun thing where Erich tells Amos everyone on the ground is gonna be killed when they blast off and Amos is like "we care?" They blast off and make it up to the moon.  Amos name drops Avasarala expecting they'll let him land.

They have sent their message and are waiting for a response.  Holden says that fred has analyzed Naomi's distress signal and thinks it might be fake.  They're trying to see if they can m At Ch the spin of the other ship when something comes out.  It's a person in a vac suit and they are using belter signals to say danger explosion five minutes of air.  Bobbie has an idea.  Launch her on a missile to grab the person in the vac suit.

ch 47 naomi 475

Bobbie's plan worked perfectly.  Naomi is alive and on the razorback.  It's super cramped and they have two less crash couches than th wry have people so they can't really go anywhere.  But they can fire a missile to blow up Naomi's ship,.so they do that.  The Roci is on the way to save the day.  Plenty of room and crash couches for everyone there.

ch 48 holden 482

Everyone on the razorback has made it back to the Roci.  The whole crew minus Amos is back together.  But Alex just got good news from the moon.  I'm assuming it's Amos cause he's next up.

ch 49 amos 492

Blah, blah, blah.  Nothing really happens in this Chapter, just a lot of talking.  Erich doesn't know what to do, Avasarala informs Amos that this ship is NOT legitimate salvage, peaches is worried 😟 she'll get sent back the prison.  Amos really only knows he's gotta get back to the Roci.  Nothing else matters to him and he doesn't want to talk about it.

Amos calls Alex back and tells him about his bike ride.

Everyone is back together on the moon.  Avasarala summons them to tell them she's starti mg an official police action against the Free Navy and needs their help.  Holden a assumes she wants him to lead it and her response is the best

Holden, I have crates of anti-herpes drugs that are more legitimately UN Navy than you are

She just wants them to be a cooperative part of the action.  Especially Naomi because she was with Marcos and knows more about him than everyone else combined.

They are gonna try to go out on the town.

Amos says he wants to bring on an apprentice.

ch 51 naomi 513

Said apprentice is Peaches and Holden's immediate response is hell no.  Naomi tells Holden her while back story.  Nothing really gets resolved.  But they've got a fun theory, the colony ships that disappeared have nothi mg to do with Marcos.  The ring gates are eating ships and we have no idea how or why.

Epilogue: Sauveterre 522

Sauveterre's a former Martian ship captain.  There is a giant fleet getting ready to go.through the ring gate.  This is most of what used to be the Martian fleet.  This is who has the protomolecule they stole from Fred Johnson.  They have scientists that expect to control Roman artifacts.  These scientists make Sauveterre's skin crawl.  But he's going through with it cause it's part of the plan that other smarter folks at higher pay grades have figured out.  They start going through the ring gate.  It goes badly.  I'm assuming whatever ate the missing colony ships are eating this ship.

 Chapter Seventeen: Alex pg  177

Alex meets an old navy buddy at a coffee shop to talk about missing ships.  The waiter gives him a fancy chai cardamom honey latte cause he's famous.  His Navy Buddy sends him to another guy who sends him to another guy who's dead.  Apex gets questioned for eight hours and tells Bobbie all about it.  His pitch is they should take the little racing ship to check out the asteroid holden told Alex about.

Fred and holden open up the cintsiner they think Monica is in and there she is.  There's some negotiations between Fred and Monica on how the story will be handled and released.  They bring in the new repair guy to interrogate him.  He doesn't give them much but its clear he hates them.

ch 19 naomi 198

Naomi buys a ship to give to Philip.  They say their goodbyes and she tells him that he could join her on the Roci if he wanted to.  He says maybe after.  She hugs a big belter she knew from the old days goodbye but he doesn't let go and he squeezes her until she blacks out.

ch 20 alex 208

Alex is feeling out the controls of the razorback.  She's quick and nimble.  The Roci is real sluggish by comparison.  But the Roci is a ship you can live on.  The razorback is a one cabin racing ship that can only fit two people.  They're burning 1 G heading to the Hungaria asteroid to look for Holden's ship.  Alex and Bobbie talk about the Navy days.  Alex asks if she could go back to the Navy.  She tells him there's no going back for her.  They've got a long way to go so there's plenty of time to chitchat.  As they get closer, sensors go off and Alex realizes they're being painted with targeting lazers.  Must be a stealth ship cause nothing shows up on the scans as a ship.  The ship fires missles at them.  Alex goes as fast as he can toward the UN fleet and sends a distress signal.  Someone on the UN fleet shoots countermeasures at the missles.  In a desparate attempt to not die, he dumps the core and that's what the missles blow up instead of Alex and Bobbie.

Amos is at the max.prison where clarissa Mao is being held.  There's bad news.  An asteroid has landed in North Africa.  The electric grid is in ruins.  The closest city has been flattened.  Amos goes down ten floors to see Clarissa.  She doesn't get any news, so Amos tells her the whole Ilus story.  Ann alarm goes off,.the guard comes by to tell them the place is on lockdown.  Another asteroid has hit in the Atlantic ocean.  Amos asks real nice and the guard let's them watch TV.  

ch 23 holden 239

Tycho station is under attack.  This happens at the same time the new s of the asteroids hitting earth and the Martian prime minister's ship has been attacked.  After a lot of fighting, they get control back.  But the attackers got what they came for.  They stole the wall of Fred's office with his safe.  That's where he was keeping his protomolecule sample.

ch 24 amos 250

They are hanging out watching the news when suddenly the whole place shakes and goes black and Amos falls down.  Emergency lights come up.  Another asteroid must have hit much closer to where they are.  Amos is pretty sure his hand is broken.  Clarissa is ok.  Amos convinces the guard they gotta evacuate.  It's three.guards one other prisoner Amos and Clarissa trying to get out.  They try to take the stairs.  At a certain point there's no more stairs, they're just rubble.  It's gonna be a looooong day.

ch 25 naomi 261

lots of chitchat between Naomi and filip.  He talks a out how this is all him.  He got the Martian stealth technology to do the meteor drops on earth.  She talks about how Marco got so much blood on her hands.  Now he's done ✔ the same to filip.  It haunts her, all these people that she helped Marco kill.  She tells Filip to.come talk about his feelings when the horror of what he's done kicks in and he starts to consider suicide.  He says she's dead to him.

ch 26 amos 272

Amos and Clarissa .She it out of the prison via the elevator shaft. The other prisoner killed two of the guards so they kicked him in the nuts and threw him back d own the elevator shaft.  The plan is to figure out how to get to the 🌙 moon.

ch 27 alex 282

Alex and Bobbie are on a Martian ship.  Beats being dead.  They eat grill cheese sandwich and they get grilled by the Martian interogators.  But.things are.relatively cool cause Bobbie and Alex accidentally saved all their lives and they know it.  So people are being nice.

ch 28 holden 293

Anderson dawes has.decided.to.recognize.The terrorists as a legitimate part of the OPA.  He has invited Fred Johnson to come.out to.wherever he is to a meeting with the other OPA leaders.  Fred has also been invited by Avasarala to come to the moon 🌙 and meet with earth 🌎 and mars leaders.  Holden is eating Thai chicken 🐔 curry and it is not good.  He talks to Feed and Drummer about all this.  They tell him Medina station has gone dark.  There's also 25 ships that used to be Martian stealth ships heading that way.  They can't do anything about it, so they're going to the moon.  Holden calls Alex to let him know he'll be seeing him sooner than expected.

ch 29 naomi 303

Naomi decides it's time to try to shake down Marco for information.  They have some heated talk.  At the end of it Naomi is pretty sure that they tried to kill Fred Johnson and he is still very much in danger because the new head engineer at Tycho who Marco told Fred through Anderson Dawes he's willing to do a prisoner exchange for has put Naomi's old software that can blow up ships on the Roci and it's just a matter of time until it is triggered and kills Fred and Holden.

ch 30 amos 313

Amos calls Clarissa Mao Peaches and in this Chapter the book starts calling her peaches.  So I will too.

Amos and peaches meet a nice old man who told them to avoid the preppers due east.  So if course Amos heads directly that direction.  He offers to trade the guy a water thingy in exchange for guns.

Peaches comes out of nowhere and kills the prepper.  Nobody comes out for revenge so Amos goes inside to check it out.  They get a bunch of supplies, including "a stack of surprisingly boring pornography". He and peaches have a heart to heart about the morals of what they've done.  She explains that if you kill someone in order to steal their stuff you're not the good guy.  Amos's response to that is he's gotta get back to his ship.

They are heading to the moon.  But pretty soon there's trouble.  The support ships are starting to fire on them.  They are out gunned and out manned and out planned.  They are being borded.  The plan is to put Alex, Bobbie and the Martian prime minister on a ship headed to the moon 🌙 while everyone else acts as a distraction.  There's an incoming message.  It's not a tight beam, it's a broadcast message.  It's Naomi.

The belters are getti mg ready for their sneak attack on the Martians.  They have Martian uniforms and they are practicing talking 👄 like Martians so they will think they are regular Martian ships.  She gets strapped into a crash couch.  She is pretty sure if she gets the high G injections, hers will be full of sedatives.  So she wriggles her way out and avoids the injections.  She sneaks around the ship and finds some tools and is able to send a message to Holden.

The software controlling the magnetic bottle has been sabotaged. Do not start the reactor without reloading the hardware drivers from a known good source

This chapter is vaguely about geology.  What its more about is Jaquetta Hawkes's book "A Land" which is about British geology.  There's fun contradiction in A Land in that it has a general we are all the same cause all land everywhere is made up of similar rocks, yet it also speaks of Britain's uniqueness.  She gets all political in parts and as a result she ended up with some fans maybe she didnt want.  There was a part talking about how noted fascist and author of Tarka the Otter Henry William was a big fan of her pro British isolation ideals.  Also her writing.  He had to wait months to get ahold of a copy, so I expect its a well written book.

Vin is sad that Kelsier is dead.  The crew is talking about how they will split up and go into hiding.  That is until they hear a group of skaa preaching the word of Kelsier.  They're rising up.  The roads are full of skaa preaching the word of kelsier and how they must rise up and take over the city.  They go to a storehouse and find a ton of weapons.  Lord reneoux is there.  He tells a creature in the back to come out.  Its a mistwraith that's taken kelsiers body so I guess kelsier can have a Jesus like rebirth story.  Renoux gives vin a bag with the.elwvwnth metal.  There's a note telling her kelsier never figured out how it worked.  Doesn't matter, she's gonna figure it out and kill the lord ruler.

CH 36 pg 589

Vin is goes to the palace and using powdered pewter as a distraction technique she holds her own in a fight against two inquisitors.  But then the Lord ruler shows up and that's the end of that.  He says to kill her.  The inquisitors say they still have use of her and they need to talk about the church.  Primarily that they should be in charge of it because the men in charge are corrupt.  Their prime evidence was that Vin is a church guys daughter.  She tells the Lord ruler that her brother told her he was her dad.  Church guy admits he might have let a bastard child live.  The Lord ruler tells the inquisitors they can do what they want now.  They kill church guy and say they're gonna kill Vin.

Ch 37 pg 606

Vin finds out from the inquisitors that her brother didn't abandon her.  He died keeping her secret.  Sazed I there.  He allowed himself to be captured so he could save Vin.  He uses his power to get out of the dungeon.  But then there's palace soldiers.  Looks like they are done for.  But no, Eland shows up to save her.  He's all prepared to die fighting th e palace guard so she can get away.  But she finds her stuff and downs a goal of metal and makes quick work of the.palace guard with her alomancy.

Ch 38 pg 619

Vin goes back to the palace to finish what she started with the lord ruler.  They're having an official church guy meeting where the lord ruler officially announces that the inquisitors are now in charge of the church.  Everyone except for the lord ruler and the head inquisitor leave and that's when Vin strikes.  Things arent going that great, but then another inquisitor comes along and kills the inquisitor Vin is fighting.  Lord ruler calls the other inquisitors but they're already dead.  The mystery inquisitor is Marsh.  I guess selling out his friends and family was part of the plan.  Now he's the only inquisitor.  Vin uses the 11th metal (which if its the push metal opposite gold is really the 10th metal and atrium is the 11th metal and maybe in the next book they'll discover the 12th metal) to see the lord ruler's past self and when she really looks at him, he's dressed like a Shepherd from the far north.  He's a terrisman.  She realizes this isn't the true hero.of.legend, this is Rashek,w ho declared the real hero wasn't the real hero, he must have killed the real hero and taken whatever the power was he needed to defeat the deepness.  So he's an alomancer and a feruchemist.  She rips out the rings that are in his forearms and without that feruchemical store of power, he goes down like a sack of potatoes.

Epilogue pg 633

This chapter is for people like me who need things explained to them.  The basic idea is sazed agrees with Vin's idea that Rashek was already a feruchemist and he got the power of alomancy and he gave it to those loyal to him.  He wasn't really immortal but by burning metal and saving his age into his bracelets he was able to deage himself and that's how he lived so long.  

During the fighting when the rebel army was slaughtering the palace guard Eland came along and gave a great speech.  So he's gonna be the new king.  He's a good man, he'll be a good king

Mistborn ch 29 - 34

 Ch 29 pg 479

Vin is reading the Lord rulers diary that Sazed translated.  He talks about how the keepers don't seem to trust him any more because a high profile keeper told them he wasn't the chosen one.  But they're all doing their duty to support him going into the frozen north to fight the deepening.  Vin is excited to read the part where he describes how he used alomancy to fight the deepening.  But there isn't one.  Sazed says he translated all their was.  Lord ruler must have decided not to journal anymore after the defeated the deep being and started to take over the world 🌎.  Vin asks Sazed if she can burn some of his metal he's stored power 🔋 in to see if she can access it.  She tries and can't do it.  She can feel the extra power in the metal but it's too far away for her to reach out and touch.

Kelsier comes back to the keep and The team is there looking over the city Map with soothing station locations his brother got.  It also has the location of inquisitors raids.  One of them is Theron's crew.  That was the other crew in on the canal boat fraud scheme.  This is bad cause it seems like the inquisitors are still on Vin's tail.  They are working on a plan to take out all the soothing station locations at once.  They ask vin what she learned at the ball and she doesn't tell them.  She seems to care about Eland more than the revolution.  This is bad.

Ch 30 496

Vin goes to the ball and it straight up sucks.  Sazed finds out all future balls have been cancelled.  The only person willing to talk to Vin is Kliss, the most gossipy lady in all the nobility.  Turns out she isn't just a gossip.  She's an informant and she knows tons of stuff and if Vin wants to stay in the know, its going to cost her.  Vin gives kliss her necklace to get whatever info she has on Eland.  There's a plot afoot to kill Eland tonight.  Vin alomances her way to Eland's room and finds a kill squad of alomancers there to kill him.  Shan is with them.  She's a mist born.  Vin fights so hard that she wins.

Ch 31 pg 514

Vin goes back to the hideout and Sazed sews up ☝ her arm.  She tells everyone she killed Shan saving Eland's life and the crew is not pleased.  They worked so hard getting this war between the houses going and here she is ruining it by saving Eland when his death would have really ignited  fighting amongst all the nobels.  She gets pissed and says they're all basically nobels.  They sure don't live like Ska.  

She goes up to the roof and Kelsier comes up and they talk about the fight.  The big discovery they make is that Vin  can sense Kelsier's alomancy even when he's burning copper to try and cover it up.  The theory is that she's just that much stronger in her poweres.  Probably the Lord ruler and inquisitors can do the same thing.  That's how he and his wife were caught.  Not because they were betrayed, but because he could sense her using alomancy.

now we are in Eland's point of view.  He is unaware that someone tried to.kill him.  He thinks that the alomancer s were just spying on him and his friends.  He's tracked Vin back to the hideout.  His spies say the place is a skaa thieving hide out.  Somehow this makes Eland feel much better than if she were a Nobel spy.  He goes back home and his father informs him about Shan and the rest of the kill squad.  He's feeling grateful to be alive.  He has no idea Shan wanted him dead.

Ch 32 pg 532

It's been a while, the Nobel war rages on in secret at night.  House Hastings has fallen.  Vin and Kelsier go to visit Marsh.  He's dead, presumably killed by an inquisitor.  Kelsier hits the Lord ruler where it hurt s.  He goes to the atrium mine and kills all the guards and sets all the slaves free.  He's using iron to find atium.

Kelsier didn't just find atium in the mine, he used his alomancy to destroy the mine all together.  It will be three hundred years before that mine produces any more atium.  There's another call to the square.  More executions in response to Kelsier destroying the mine.  At first he was just going to watch.  But then he recognized some of the prisoners its the fake lord reneau and his people.  Kelsier is gonna save them.  An inquisitor shows up to make things more interesting.  Kelsier's plan is to free the prisoners and run.

Ham goes to get so.e army guys to help.  Vin hangs out with Breeze to help sooth the crowd.

Eland shows up trying to save Valette.

Kelsier is not having a lot of luck saving people and not getting killed by the inquisitor.  So he pushes everyone else away by burning steel and he's gonna have himself a real fight with an inquisitor.

Ch 34 pg 561

Kelsier does all sorts of awesome things in the fight.  He's not able to save lord reneax.  Renoux gets an axe in the back from the inquisitor.  But kelsier keeps fighting and being awesome and he pulls thus slick move where he's able to slam the inquisitor into a cart and the spikes coming out the back of his head get attached to the cart and he can't get away.  Kelsier cuts his head off.  Everyone is super excited for a minute.  But then the lord ruler shows up.  He's stabbed by a few spears, but pays them no mind.  He kills kelsier.  No exciting fight.  Just slaps him once and he dies.  Ham grabs Vin and they run away.

Mistborn ch 22 through 28

 Ch 22 pg 363

Vin is at the manse.  She has been going to balls and tea with Nobel ladies.  Kelsiers brother is her and VIN is super desperate to talk to him about interesting revolution stuff.  Nothing new really.  They talk about family in that most of the crew has one and VIN is super surprised.  She just doesn't expect criminnals.to have a wife and kids.  They talk about skaa life in the plantation being hard and bad, but all skaa life is hard and bad.  He talks about how all Nobel men have sex with skaa women knowing they will be killed shortly after.  She's in a bit of denial.  She can't imagine Eland would have bedded a skaa woman 🚺 knowing she'd be killed.

Ch 23 pg 376

Vin is at another ball.  She goes by her fake Nobel name Valette.  A couple interesting things happen at the ball.  A fella named Kliss tells her that the inquisitors have really been killing skaa thieves like it's going out of style.  Eland's ex tells Vin she wants her to spy on him.  Mainly get a list of the books he's been reading.  She must suspect he's been reading books critical of the Lord ruler.  Vin finds Eland and asks if he's ever slept with a skaa woman.  He says once when he was 13 his father had him do it.  Gross.  Once he found out what happened to her he was super sad about it and hasn't done it again.  She tells him that skaa people are just like nobles.  He gives her his handkerchief to express his desire for her and goes off to talk philosophy with his friends and VIN follows and listens in.  They do really seem to be good guys that want to make life better for the skaa.  But they're also a bit defeated.  The best they could hope to do is put political pressure on the Lord ruler in twenty or thirty years when their dad's are dead and they take over.  Kelsier shows up.  He's already been spying on these same boys.

CH 24 pg 395

The whole crew is back and its a good times party.  It's a little odd for Vin to spend time with people that genuinely care about each other In a crime squad,  but she's getting used to it.

Vin spends some time with Ham talking about fighting and using Pewter.  The plan is they're going to go to the garrison and she's gonna hang out while Ham does some sparing and she can learn a thing or two.  What actually happens is that the garrison is gearing up for a fight.  A town up north was been attacked and they need to go help them.  Ham and Vin are super confused cause as far as they know, their army is still in the caves.  Ham agrees to hire on for the fight.

CH 25 pg 409

They go back to the hide out and everyone scrambles to do something about the news of the battle up north.  Kelsier and vin go up north to the caves to see what's left of the army.  They burn pewter like crazy and they just run.  Run all day and all night to get to the caves.  Its a very painful process.  They make it to the city and they see their army has been slaughtered.  They get to the cave and there's around two thousand men left.  They're prepared with supplies to GTFO so they do.  Its mostly old men and children.  One of the old men is the man from the prologue.  They talk about what's going down and the old man is surprised when Kelsier tells him this army was part of a plan to overthrow the lord ruler.  From his perspective this battle is the greatest revolutionary action in decades.  Kelsier is saddened by this.  He wants to overthrow the government.  Doesn't seem like anyone else shares his optimism.

CH 26 pg 427

The hangover from the pewter push is super bad.  Vin is drinking in the morning time distract her from it.  Still, it was awesome time run so far so fast.  By conventional means it took them two weeks to get back.  Every one is dun.  The army is destroyed and the plan is in ruins.  There's a call to the town square.  That can only mean one thing, executions.  Its super bad.  They don't have members of the rebel army to execute.  They just have random skaa they're executing.  Women and children.  During the executions kelsier gives a rousing speech.  The plan is back on.  They're gonna trick.the nobility into war against each other and when the city is in chaos they're gonna attack.the palace and steal all the lord ruler's money, then when the garrison returns to the city they'll pay them to be on their side.

CH 27 pg 441

Lots of blah blah about the plan and the lord rulers diary.  Vin and Kelsier go to visit Kelsiers brother Marsh.  He has ministry tattoos now cause he has infiltrated the ministry.  He's progressing nicely up the ranks as he's older than your average ministry initiate.  Also he's hard working and organized and he's super good at the one allomantic metal he can use.  He has news about the ministry.  They have alomancerrs stationed all over the city soothing people.  

CH 28 pg 457

Lots of fun.political stuff at the ball.  Eland tells Vin to get out of the city.  Vin says she can take care ❤ of herself.  Eland goes to talk philosophy with his friends.  Vin goes to Eland 's ex to say she found the books she was looking for.  I think her name is Shan.  She says she doesn't need her anymore.  She's got the dirt she needs on Eland and to leave it be left Shan gets annoyed with Vin.  Eland goes home and his dad tells him he's having breakfast with the daughter of the third most powerful house.  He argues against doing it.  Eland goes to bed but one of his friends is waiting for him.  He tells Eland that Vin wasn't in her carriage when it.left the city.  She got.dropped off somewhere on the way.  He says she must be spying on Eland.  Eland tells his father he'll do the breakfast if he hired some spies to follow someone.  I'm assuming Vin is said person.

This chapter is all about one time Robert went into a tunnel with Richard Skelton.  Rich lives in the !middle of nowhere with his wife Autumn.  They explore and document the area around their cabin in the woodes.  It.might not be woods cause th wry talk about the moors.  Cabin in the moors doesn't have the same ring to it.

Nemesis games ch 1 - 16

 Prologue: Filip pg 1

They are on a shipyard in the dark side.of.one of.Jupiter's moons.  They are being attacked.  Or they're attacking.  I'm not sure.  Point is things are blowing up and blasting off and all sorts of stuff.  It's hard for me to understand or care cause I don't know any of these people.  The point is that the outter planets are in chaos as former Martian ships are being used for I guess terrorism or whatever as people are using them to steal materials from shipyards as they head to the other solar systems through the ring.  

I'm assuming anyone reading this has already read the previous four books in the series.  Mostly cause that person is me.

Chapter One: Holden pg 11

Now this is a plot line I can sink my brain into.  They are at the OPA repair yard.  The Roci is busted up pretty bad and repairs are gonna take a while.  Especially the side of the ship that had the rail gun mounted.  The new repair chief said there were so many microfracures that the main supports on that side would allow need to be replaced.  28 weeks, he sent an itemized spreadsheet to Naomi.  He's good and very organized.  But interacting with him reminds them of Sam, the old repair chief, and she's dead.  Killed by captain Ashford during book three.  So they're all a little sad when they're talking about repairs.  It's been three years since the end of the last book.  The payment from the U.N. Just came through so they've got plenty of money.  So Amos buys Indian food with real chicken 🐔 for dinner.  Even so, Holden is hoping Fred Johnson will pay for the ship repairs.  Fred Johnson has the best coffee.  It's ruined Holden on regular coffee for a while.

Chapter Two: Alex pg 22

A new viewpoint, we'll see how well I can absorb this new information.  New Viewpoint, but it's a character we know, Alex is the Roci's pilot.  He's got a lot to worry about.  Holden and Amos's relationship is a bit fragile cause they're both such alpha males.  Holden and Naomi is always a worry cause they're lovers.  If that goes wrong, this whole situation is over.    Alex has been on a.lot of.long haul ships.  Long years in the Mars Navy.  Followed by long years on private long haul.ships.  A lot of pilots that are used to doing the inner runs from earth to the moon to Mars try doing long haul trips out past the belt and can't handle it.  He has always had these exact same worried on every ship he's ever worked on.  Doesn't matter if you are a crew of four or hundreds.  Always gotta worry about egos and romance.  

Alex and Amos spend a lot of time together because Holden and Naomi have coupled and pretty much spend every moment together.  Alex is talking about his unresolved feelings with his ex wife.  He didn't have the courage to break it off but his wife took the hint when he was gone for a few years and ended things.  But loose ends weren't wrapped up.  they just sort of ended.  So he's thinking of going to Mars for a while.  

when they get together and talk Amos steals the spotlight and says he has to go back to Earth and tie up some lose ends.  Holden transfers him some walking around money and off he goes.  Alex basically does the same thing but Mars.

Chapter Three: Naomi pg 33

Damn, I wonder if everyone on the crew gets their own viewpoint this book.  Naomi is hanging out in the bar with other belters.  They're playing a better bar game that involves that throwing balls.  She's doing this with people who used to work with Sam so there's some sadness there.  I'm sure sad.  

this song is called, I'm sad so very very sad.

Holden shows up and everyone is all starstruck.  Naomi tells him they need to talk.  She wants to hire more crew.  Normal crew for a ship like the Roci is twelve.  They at least need to hire four more crew so that if someone dies, they can still operate the ship.  Holden hates the idea.  We're not just a crew, we're family.  Naomi says that's the problem.  Holden Says he's at least willing to talk about it when Amos and Alex get back.

Naomi gets a call.  It's some guy named Marcus.  Marcus says Filip is in trouble.  Filip from the prologue.

Chapter Four: Amos pg 41

Yep, all four members of the crew get their own viewpoint this book.  He's on Ceres, heading to the moon then somehow he'll figure out how to get to earth 🌎.  He doesn't want to go back.  He is going because Erich called him to say Lydia is dead.  Lydia used to be Amos's moral compass like Holden is now.  He has a tattoo of her over his heart and often thinks what would Lydia do?  

Amos has a lump in his throat.  That's a grief lump.  He misses Lydia even though he hasn't seen her for twenty years.  He has three hours to kill before his flight so he spends it slowly drinking beer.  he settles in a level on the ship with belters.  All the levels are segregated everyone with their own kind.

thugs some to sell "insurance". Amos has made friends in his corner of the deck and tells the thugs this corner doesn't need insurance.  They leave and Amos goes to the shower.  The thugs jump him in the shower 🚿 and Amos beats six guys unconscious.  He doesn't have a lump in his throat during the fight.  He goes back to his corner and tells the dad of the group the money 💰 he would have given for "insurance" should go to buy his little girl I've cream 🍦 .

Chapter Five: Holden pg 52

Holden and Fred Johnson have a chat.  Fred is worried about OPA breakaway terrorism.  They see their way of life ending and they're pissed.  Attacking ship yards and even earth.  Naomi says she has stuff to do without him.  Starting at Ceres.  If she doesn't call tii frequently, don't read too much into it.

Everyone has an adventure to go on.  Everyone except for Holden.  So he hangs out with the repair crew working on the Roci.  He's real lonely.  He's never been alone before.  The closest thing he has to a friend is Fred.  This is additionally hard cause he's famous.  Everyone wants a selfie with him, but he's not making any friends.  He gets a call from Monica, the Lady that ran the documentary in the slow zone.  She's also on Tycho and wants to talk.  They go out for sushi cause Monica has an expense account.  She shows him a video of a ship going through a ring gate and disappeared.

Chapter Six: Alex pg 63

Alex goes to Mars.  The trip is uneventful.  But there was a baby on his ship.  How well does a baby handle a trip at three G? He messages Bobbie to see if she wants to do lunch.  I'm psyched.  The epilogue from the last book was Bobbie agreeing to work for avasarala.  I was worried nothing would come of it in this book with the Roci's crew being our viewpoints.

 He is staying with a cousin.  They go out for some garlic noodles.  He drops in on his ex wife.  It's pretty awesome cause she's working in a real garden on Mars.  This is the future here.  Real air being created by real plants.  She gives him a firm but polite no.  She has a life and he's not part of it.  Bobbie messages him back.  Says drop by any time.  Also, she might have a favor to ask.  

Chapter Seven: Amos PG 73

Amos takes a shuttle from the moon to Earth 🌎and it's rough.  Space is nice cause there's no turbulence.  He makes it to New York city and the second he touches land the cops are there to greet him.  They take him to Avasarala.  She thinks Amos was sent by Holden to kill someone.  He says he's here to give his respects to a friend that passed.  Their name is "none of your fucking business" and that's the end of the conversation.  He finds a baller hotel to spend the night in and finds Lydia had a husband and the obituary claimed she died peacefully in their home.  If that's true, Amos won't have to kill anyone.

Chapter Eight: Holden PG 83

Holden is talking to Monica Stewart, documentary lady in case you forgot, and she's talking about thirteen ships that have disappeared going through the ring.

Holden talks to the OPA head mechanic about this who has the following advice:

“Don’t look for the missing ships,” Sakai replied. “Look for the new ones that show up. "

Holden gets a message from Alex.  He doesn't have much to say in return.  Sometimes work friends are just that and you remove the work and you got nothing to talk about.

Holden decides to talk to Fred Johnson about the missing ships.  Holden presents the theory that Medina Station—nee Behemoth nee Nauvoo - the hub of all the ring gates is complicit in the disappearance of these ships.  Fred tells him to let it go.  Holden isn't gonna let it go.

Chapter Nine: Naomi PG 93

Naomi is on Ceres.  She's making her way somewhere and she's pretty sure she's got a tail.  She has nicknamed him wings cause of his long silver hair.  She loses him and makes her way to a dive bar way deep in the Ceres core where rent is cheap cause the spin feels like spin rather than gravity.

wings shows up at the bar.  Not cause he followed her here, but because this is his home base.  He talks to a HUGE guy.  Turns out huge guy is Naomi 's friend from back in the day.  They go into a back room.  One of the.people in that room is Filip, Naomi's son.

Chapter Ten: Amost PG 103

Amos goes to Philadelphia to see lydias widower.  He seems nice.  He tells Amos that he's losing the house and going back on basic cause the guy bankrolling Lydia has stopped cause she's dead. the bankroll guy's name is Erich.  Amos tells him he's not gonna lose the house.

Amos goes to Baltimore to see Erich.  he roughs up a prostitute and her muscle.  The muscle take s him to Erich.  Erich calls him Tummy and asks if he.killed anyone. He hasn't and Erich explains to the rest of the crew that means Amos is still being polite.

Chapter Eleven: Alex PG 114

Alex has done everything he figures he's going to do in Mars and it's time to leave.  In a flashback he and Bobbie talk about how Avasarala wants Bobbie to look into all the Martian ship parts that are disappearing from the scrap yards.  Bobby wants Alex to help her.  In the present Alex is thinking he's not gonna do that.  He's just gonna go back to the Roci and be alone.  He gets to Bobby place and there are guys with guns roughing her up.  He attacks and Bobbie also fights and between the two of them they make the bad guys run away or die or whatever.  He lies to Bobbie and says he was coming to tell her he would help and she says these guys weren't caring ❤ about stealing ship parts.  They were just asking her questions about Alex.

Chapter Twelve: Amos PG 124

Amos goes to talk to Erich about the old man Lydia was shacked up ☝with keeping the house.  Nobody dies and the old man gets to stay.  Amos calls Avasarala and asks where they locked up clarrisa Mao.  He wants to visit her before he leaves earth 🌎forever again.

Chapter Thirteen: Holden PG 135

Holden hires a developer to mine the ship data to try to find the ones that have disappeared.  He finds a likely candidate that might be parked on an asteroid near mars.  He sends a message to Alex to see if he can go check it out.  He goes to tell Monica about his findings.  She doesn't answer.  He calls security to see if she left.  They say no, but also there has been no sign of her for a day.  He asks them to send a crew to check it out.  There's no sign of her and her place has been tossed.  Good news, no blood.

Chapter Fourteen: Naomi PG 145

Filip has sixteen people.that need saving.  Filip thought Naomi would bring the Roci and it would be easy to get everyone off.  That's not happening.  They talk more and it turns out that where Filip needs to go is the same asteroid group that Holden wants Alex to check out.  So Naomi goes to this shady shipping company that they used to run jobs for back when the Roci was working out of Ceres to see 👀 if they'd be willing to rent her a ship on the down low.

Chapter Fifteen: Alex PG 157

Alex is looking up old navy friends for.leads.  He gets Holden's message and is looking for a way to get a ship.  Things are a little cramped at his cousins h p use.  He calls bobbie.  Shoes at a hotel.  He's gonna try to get a room there too.  He asks if she might be able.to get a ship.  She has a ship.  Julie Mao 's old racing shi p.

Chapter Sixteen: Holden PG 167

Holden and Feed are looking for Monica.  They have been following the video feed from when she was last seen.  They think they have a lead as they see her going into a roo m And then two.people come.out with a container big enough to hide a person in.  They follow where that container went to and they search every container in that room.  They don't find her.  Fred calls for a station lockdown.  They go back to re search her apartment and Holden starts poking at her tablet.  They end up connecting it to what they think is a tiny camera Monica might be wearing.  They see the inside of a sealed.shipping container.  They scan the station for closed shipping containers and they find one that's warm.
