On the road book report
chapter 1: Jack is a writer and likes to write things. He lives with his aunt. He has a friend named Dean who's lived a much more exciting life of being in prison, pool halls, etc. My guess is they're going to go on the road together.
chapter 2;July 1947 Jack is a veteran with $50 His Friend Remi lives near sanfrancisco and is a mad man.Jack didn't get anywhere near San Francisco in this chapter. He went north for some reason and got stuck in the mountains and it rained and he was sad and he went back to New York with the expectation that he would take a bus to Chicago.
Chapter 3: He made it to Chicago and that was nice. Now he's hitch hiking west. He only eats applie pie and ice cream. He got a truck driver to give him a ride and then when he needed to stop, he got another truck driver to give him a ride. He's goin west real good now. Ready or not Omaha Nebraska. Jack doesn't have a drivers license. He meets up with Eddie, another new york guy, who does. The two of them get picked up by a guy going west at least a hundred miles that wanted onfo them to drive antoher car. they didn't end up going with a man who had a circus. Some car came along and Eddie Ditch'd Jack cause the guy only had room for 1. Jack keeps getting random rides from folks a hundred miles at a time. Still hasn't made it to Omaha yet.
Chapter 4: Jack gets on the back of a flatbed with a bunch of other guys. there's some intersting characters and shenhannegans ensue and eventually they make it to Cheyanne Wyoming.
Chpater 5: Jack wasted all his money on booze chasing women. All young men do that. It's a sad right of passage. Spending all your money to get nothing out of it. A wise man once said "I've seen a lot of men lose a lot of money chasing after women. I've never seen a man lose a woman chasing after money." A couple car rides later he made it to Denver.
Chapter 6: Apparently Jack's name is Sal. Jack got a hold of Chad and now it's the Jack and Chad show. The gang's all here but they're divided. Chad works at the library and Dean is a thief. It was all fun and games in New York, but back home in Denver, the social divide is too wide.
Chapter 7: Dean has two chicks. Jack doesn't even have one. Dean is big on schedules. Maybe that's why he does so well with the ladies. He tells them specifically when he is leaving and when he will return and he lives by those times. I never do. I'm always like, I should be home 7-ish and I show up 7:45 cause I'm screwing around with that darn walking dead game. Jack still doesn't have a chick and no money.
Chapter 8: Eddie shows up and he and Jack and Dean go meet up with a man who has work to do. The man says he likes boys that work hard and Eddie says he is willing to work hard. Work starts at 4 am so Jack stays up till then watching Dean and Carlos talk all night.
Chapter 9 we are going to the mountains. Jack goes to the opera with Babe. They have an old miners shack that they are cleaning up to party in. People are dancing without music. They go out to the bars in town and shenhannegans ensue. Jack is ready to go to San Francisco.
Chapter 10: Jack gets 50 bucks from his aunt to go to San Francisco.
Chapter 11: it's funny that this chapter that's synonymous with bankruptcy is the first one jack has gainful employment. He works with his French friend remi as a cop in a work camp getting Guys reeady to ship out to Japan. He sends most of his money back to his home Aunt. What little he has left goes to groceries and what not. He is not loving this. Things go bad with Remi at the race track. Their friendship is over. But Remi has a last request. Go to dinner with him and his step father. That starts out ok but then an old friend of Jack's shows up and is very rude to Remus step father. Jack doesn't care. He is done with San Francisco.
Chapter 12: Jack akes a bus to LA. He shacks up with a Mexican girl named Terry.
Electric sheep book report
Chapter 1:
You can make yourself feel whatever you want in the future because they have devices that are implants or whatever and you dial the feeling you want and you feel that way. Appearantly it's not that great. Herrison ford's wife isn't all that pleased with it cause she doesn't have real emotional reactions to things.
Also owning animals is important. So much so that several people have fake animals. Harrison has a fake sheep and he is jealous of his "friend" that has a pregnant horse.
Harrison is an android bounty hunter and he is excited about the idea that if he could kill 4 Andys he could buy his own horse. But he isn't very optimistic about the odds of that happening any time soon.
Chapter 2:
Life on earth post war straight up sucks. Anybody worth a damn is sent to a colony and is given a free android. It is a pretty obvious metaphor for slavery. Androids that become aware they are slaves seem to try and run from their colony to Earth. Harrison wishes it happened more often.
John isidor is a special and that is bad. I don't know what he does for a living but he is the only person living in a giant apartment building. He does some sort of VR where he becomes Wilbur Mercer, whoever that is.
They also talk about bringing back dead people. I didn't really understand that. Appearantly what happens in VR affects the world cause John now has a cut on his arm. He wishes he had access to better medical care cause then he could do VR where he dies and he would still be OK.
There's noise in the building that makes John think there is someone else living there. This has never happened before. There is a derogatory term for specials. Chicken head. John hopes the new person doesn't figure out he is a chicken head. People don't hang out with him after they figure out he is a chicken head.
Chapter 3:
Harrison, whose name is Rick Deckard, is obsessed with the ostrich the "pet" store is selling. It's so expensive they don't even tell you how much it costs. He goes to work and there's bad news, the top Andy killer, Dave Holden, was shot. They think it was one of the new Andys that is super smart and what not. Rick is thinking this might be good for him cause now he is gonna get all the Andys that Dave used to get.
He calls the pet shop to haggle over the ostrich, but they are firm on the price. He calls someone to ask about a robotic ostrich and they say it's 800 bucks.
Eric side note : I would happily pay 800 for a robotic ostrich.
Chapter 4:
Rick is going to the office of the robot people up in Seattle to test these new latest and greatest brains to make sure the tests they used on the old robot brains to tell if they're robots or humans based on empathic response or not still works. Basically they ask "sensitive" questions and if you are a person you blush and what not. If you are a robot, not so much.
They robot company has a TON of animals. Even an owl, which was said to be extinct. Rick is super jealous.
There's a lady that works for the robot company and Rick thinks she doesn't like her. He meets a man from the robot company and he realizes that the robot company people are scared of him. If he says the tests don't work anymore he basically shuts down the biggest company in the solar system. They are not handling the idea of that very well. And the lady is his first test subject.
Chapter 5:
He is testing the lady and every empathic reaction is a little slow. He says she's an Andy, she says she's not. The test has failed, this is a disaster.
Mr. Rosen explains the reason why the test did not work on her is that she lived the majority of her young life on a space ship. She is 18 and her first 14 years were on that ship. But that doesn't mean anything. The test is still a failure and that's that. The Rosen company is through. Rick is D U N being a robot bounty hunter. As is every one.
The Rosen girl tries to bribe him with the 🦉owl. There's an interesting dialogue about terms of the Owl and breading rights. But this doesn't sit right with Rick. He asks for one more test. He says his briefcase is made of human baby skin. She reacts a. Bit slow. Now he KNOWS she's an android. He asks Mr Rosen if she knows and he says no.
Then she is all conflicted about being a robot. She will get over it. Rick is psyched to go hunt down the other Andys so he can afford to buy a real animal.
Chapter 6:
Chicken head guy goes down to the apartment where he heard noise and thinks there is a person. There is a person. It's a lady. She's wierd and doesn't seem to know a lot of things that everyone should know. There's a bunch of pointless small talk. He's trying to get all involved in her life and it totally works. She agrees to let him go searching for furniture in the other apartments after he returns from work the next day.
Then it gets real wierd. She says her name is Rachel Rosen and he is all "from the android creation company that's all powerful?" then she is like "no, I am Priss Stratton" and closes the door on him.
Chaper 7:
John Isador is a chicken head. He can't think good cause of his radiated brain. He doesn't care that the lady that lives in his building all of a sudden is obviously lying to him. He is just excited to not be alone. Not that I blame him. If I was all alone in a broken down old building I would believe anything a new person said too just so they would hang out with me.
Now he is doing his job. He has a cat he is bringing into the shop. He is real impressed with how realistic the dying is. He tries to fix it but it doesn't work. It has stopped functioning at all now. He probably pulled a power cable and that's why.
He gets to the shop and his boss informs his coworker that "the chicken head" picked up a live one by mistake. John is freaking out about it. I wonder if he realizes that he probably killed it when he was trying to fix it. Sooo sad. It made me sad anyway. His boss is very angry and keeps calling him a chicken head and John doesn't like it. His boss tells him to call the owner cause this is his screw up. John is very scared about this.
John calls and it is not the gut he got the cat from. It is his wife. John does a fine job on the call. His boss has insurance for just this sort of thing so they could buy her a new cat. But she's convinced her husband will just die if he finds out and John is able to convince her to opt for a robot cat. So his boss probably profits off this little snafu.
Chapter 8: John kills an android, good for him.
Chapter 16:
John is in a hotel room and the door opens and Rachel Rosen comes in wearing a bikini and a fishy sirong. She is drunk. Rick kisses her and she doesn't kiss him back. She keeps drinking and Rick asks what's wrong. What's wrong is that one of the three androids left (the one that was befriended by the chicken head) looks just like her. They are the same model. Rick wants to go take out the androids but Rachel is too drunk and she is worried Rick will kill her trying to kill the Android that looks like her. She gets naked and gets into bed. Rick joins her.
Chapter 17:
They did sex. I am a little confused about what happened next. She says Rick won't be able to kill any more androids cause he slept with her. Then she says that she did this with a bunch of other bounty hunters and it worked with all of them except for the one guy we met that one time cause he's a psychopath. Now he's all like " I am going kill you" she is all like "no, cause you loooove androids" I don't understand cause didn't she JUST find out she's an android. Now she is talking about how one of the androids Rick was supposed to kill is so inspirational.
Chapter 18:
We are back with the chicken head. The androids want to watch TV so he goes down to the lady androids apartment and gets her TV. They watch the one TV show and the guy says mercerism is a fraud and he has proof. It was a movie and they found the guy that played mercer and he said he did not get hurt at all cause the rocks were foam rubber. The androids are very excited about it cause mercerism is the only thing that proves people have emathy. During all this there's a spider they are cutting the legs off of. All of this upsets the chicken head and he goes outside. He meets an old man who says he is mercer. Then he sees another spider. A car parks and it is Rick. Chicken head tells him about the spider and Rick is super jealous. He wishes he could see a wild animal just once. He tells the chicken head that he is here to kill the androids. Chicken head won't tell him where they are. But he won't stop Rick either. Rick goes in and meets mercer who tells him the hardest Android to kill isn't in the apartment. She's behind him in the stairwell. He kills her and kills the other two androids.

Slaughter house five boook report
Chapter 1:
This chapter is just him talking about how he is going to write a book about the bombing of Dresden. It's mostly him having nonsensicle conversations with people he was in the war with. Lots of little rhymes. The punchline of the chapter is that it is nonsense because the bombing of Dresden was a massacre and massacres are nonsense and should not be celebrated. Also WW2 was fought by children. Any WW2 movie with anyone over 21 is BS.
Chapter 4:
Billy gets abducted by tralmafadorians on the night of his daughter s wedding. The tralmafadorians think it's stupid when Billy says why me. There's a fun deal before that where Billy gets unstuck in time and watches a war movie backwards and the bombers are sucking the destruction back up and flying back to England and the bombs are dismantled by women and the chemicals are put back in the ground where they can't hurt anyone.
Billy is back on the WW2 prisoners train. He kicks and screams when he sleeps so nobody wants to sleep near him. On page 100 the hobo and Roland Weary die. So it goes.
They get off the train at a prison. Billy is given a small awful coat. Everyone else has great coats of former military people. Their bodies are measured and Billy's is very bad. Edgar derby has one of the best. Paul Lazaro who has sworn yo kill Billy has the worst body. He is a bad person too.
Billy goes back in time to be a baby. That's neat. He is back with the tralmafadorians and they tell him that only Humans have any concept of free will. No other planet they have encountered has this concept.
Chapter 5:
There are English pows from the beginning of the war at the camp and they are living like kings. They get TONS of supplies from the red cross due to a clerical error.
O e tells Billy that the coat he has was given to him as an insult and the Germans are laughing at him and he can't let the Germans do that to him. They are putting on a play of Cinderella and Billy loses it and is taken to the hospital.
There's more stuff on the tralmafadorian zoo that 44 years old bulky is in. They ask him a question about what he likes on tralmafadore VS earth and he says the lack of war and they explain that they have tons of war and they choose not to look at that time.
There is a part where Billy is at the latrine in the pow camp and people are having problems at both ends because they have been in war and they were not prepared for the rich food the English gave them. The author says there was a guy who lost everything but his brains and then says there they go, meaning his brains and says that was him. So he definitely is not Billy.
Chapter 6:
Billy is back in the pow hospital. He is with the older English teacher from Indiana and Paul Lazaro who is the only human body worse than Billy's and swore to what's his face that he would get revenge on Billy for him.
Billy feels radiation coming from lumps in his coat and the. Lumps tell him not to investigate them but tells him they can work miracle if left alone.
Lazaro is a bad guy. He hurts dogs, he talks about all the bad things he is going to do when he gets home.
The English reinforce how important appearance is in a pow camp. If you stop caring about your appearance it's a slippery slope to death. You stop standing up straight, than you stop shaving, then you stop washing an dthen you stop getting out of bed and you stop talking and you die.
There are boots that were painted silver for the ci derella play and Billy takes them cause he has no shoes and they are a perfect fit. Good stuff.
They are taken on a Train to Dresden. They are assured by the English that they are safe as Dresden is of no strategic importance and will not be bombed.
Billy is now wearing a comical outfit with his woman's coat and silver boots. Some German is offended by this and says a bunch of stuff to him and Billy doesn't get it. He's just wearing the clothes he could get his hands on. The lump in the coat turns out to be a 2 carrot diamond.
Chapter 7
This one is short. Everyone in Dresden is cold and hungry. The city is full to bursting with refugees from German towns that have been bombed. We don't get to see the city building lights light up one by one at night cause they don't turn on lights cause of the threat of bombing. A nice old lady gives them soup and bread and notes that one of them is too young, one is too old and what the hell is Billy supposed to be? Just trying to stay warm, all the real soldiers are dead, so it goes. They work in a vitamin syrup factory. Everyone is breathing the law and taking spoons of the syrup.
Chapter 8
There's an American trying to convert other Americans into nazis. The old from Indiana calls him some unkind things. He calls Nazism a disease that needs to be erased from the face of the world. It would be cool if that was what had happened.
Billy is transported though time to the argument he had with his daughter and she says she could just kill that Kilgore Trout cause all this time travel nonsense was his fault. Now we go to when Billy meets Kilgore Trout for the first time. He works for the newspaper organizing the paper Boys. He is encouraging them to sell the Sunday paper. One of the paper boys is a girl. Billy talks to Kilgore about his books. Cut to Billy at an a adversary party and a barber shop quartet is singing and Billy gets all emotional and doesn't know why. Kilgore is there and asks Billy if it's cause ehes seen through a time. Portal. Bony says its not. But it kinda is cause the barber shop quartet reminds him of the four nazi guards that were there after the bombing was over in Dresden. All the pows came out of there meat locker alive while thousands of people were dead in their homes from the bombing. Those four nazi guards reminded him of a barber shop quartet. So now as an old man he gets emotional about barbershop quartets. They talk about how from a distance Dresden looked like the surface of the moon with all the craters. They look smooth from a distance but they aren't and they are treturous to walk through. Billy makes it with the guards and a hundred pows to a farm house. They sleep in the barn there.
Chapter 9
The way Billy's wife dies is that Billy was in a plane wreck. She was all upset and got in a car accident. She was dumb and drove away without the exhaust system. She died from carbon monoxide poisoning pulling into the hospital parking lot.
There's stuff about Bertram Rumfoord and his trophy wife but mostly that part is to educate us about the a bomb and v2 rockets and the British grand slam and other bombs. More people died in the bombing of Dresden than the abomb dropped on Hiroshima. So it goes.
Billy wakes up in the hospital in Vermont and sees his son Robert who has a rough teen period but now he is a Vietnam War hero. Billy has been in the hospital while his wife died and had a funeral and everything. He hasn't been able to talk or anything so rumsfoord thinks he should be put down.
Billy tells rumsfoord that he was at dresden during the bombing. Billy travels back to the end of WW2 and now he has a gun. It's a bad ww1 gun. Some Germans find him and the other pows. Those poor horses. Russians arrest everyone except the horses. Billy goes back to America on a slow ship.
Billy has a very tralmafadorian conversation about Dresden in the hospital.
Now Billy is in a porno shop in New York city and buys a Kilgore trout book. He sees a book about Montana w8ldhack, the lady the tralmafadorians had kidnapped for their zoo so Billy had a mate. This Is the night Billy goes on the radio and embarrassed his daughter.
Montana is on the ship with Billy. She doesn't have the same enthusiasm for Kilgore trout that Billy has. Am I a bad person for enjoying page 267 more than anything?
Chapter 10
The tralmafadorians love Charles Darwin. It's good to have nice moments to travel back to. Billy is old now and he visits Dresden with an old war buddy. If you're ever in Cody Wyoming ask for wild Bob. There are too many people.
Now Billy is in 1945 in Dresden. They are digging up bodies. So many bodies to be carried out of the holes. People died breathing in the diseased air of rotting bodies. So they just cremated the bodies on the spot instead of carrying them out of the holes.
Edgar Darby and his fine body were executed for stealing a teapot. The end.
