Time machine ch 7 through 14

 Ch 7 pg 121

Time traveler decides he's gonna go to the big palace he can see in the distance.  If any place is safe so the morlocks won't be able to get to him and eat him it's that place.  So he takes Weena and heads that way.  But it's way farther away than he thought and also he's got shoe troubles and ends up  throwing away his shoes slowing him down further.

This guy sucks.  What was that book where the kid goes up to Alaska without any preparation and dies in the woods?  I didn't feel bad when that guy died.  I wouldn't feel bad if the time traveler did the same.  In a way it's a shame I know he won't die.  Also I'm watching 11.22.63 on Hulu and he's similarly unprepared for anything and I'm feeling similar feelings about him.

Ch 8 pg 135

Time traveler makes it to the palace. He finds some stuff that might be useful.  He ends up leaving with an iron bar, matches and some camphor.  He figures his time machine is in the sphinx and he can pry it open with the iron bar and the matches and flammable camphor will scare away any morlocks.

Ch 9 pg 149

They head back the sphinx and once again it gets dark in the woods.  The mordocks start to head up from the caves below to feed.  But time traveler is no easy meal.  He uses the matches and camphor to scare them away.  He picks up weena and the iron bar amd runs away.  At some point he keeps lighting fires and running and killing mordocks with the iron bar and realizes he's not sure where he's going.  Luckily one of his previously lit fires has burned completely out of control so the choice of it is kind of taken away from him as all he can do is run away from the fire.  At some point in this he loses weena.  He presumes she's dead. He ends up on a hill where he can see the palace and the sphinx.

Ch 10 pg 164

The time traveler makes his way to the sphinx.  The doors are already open.  He goes in and starts to set up the time machine for travel.  The doors close.  It was a trap.  The morlocks attack. But he fights them off and gets the levers in place to do the time travel.

Ch 11 Pg 171

Timetraveler goes way far in the future. There's green moss and giant crabs.  He goes further into the future and there's no sign og life and there's an eclipse. He goes way further like millions of years and there's a floppy tentacled thing on the beach.

Ch 12 pg 182

No one believes the time traveler. But narrator kind of does now.  He went to see the time traveler right before he disappeared. He has been gone for three years now.  Narrator suspects he will not return.

Epilogue pg 193

Narrator thinks about where the timetraveler might be.  Back with the dinosaurs or in the stone age.  He'd like to think he went to the future but not nearly so far as the time of the morlocks.  A time when man is still man but a lot of our current problems have been solved.  If the time traveler found such a time, I could see him deciding to stay there.
