fight club ch 18 through ch 30 (the end)

ch 18 pg 137

The narrator fell asleep at work. The phone rings, he answers it "compliance and liability." He's got an email from is boss letting him know he'll be getting a formal review in two weeks. He is Joe's complete lack of suprise. The phone call is Tyler saying come downstairs there's some guys waiting for you. He can smell gasoline on his hands. He gets into a cadilac with four other guys. The driver starts yelling a bunch of Tyler's dogma and swerves into oncoming traffic. All the cars swerve out of the way as they drive into oncoming traffic. He demands everyone say what they wish they'd done before they die. The insinuation that if they don't he'll kill them all. Narrator says he wish he'd quit his jobs. The toher three answer are get a tattoo, ride a horse, build a house. Driver starts steering to safety and narrator decides he should die. So he takes the wheel and steers back into oncoming traffic. The driver bashes his head against the wheel to get control and steer them back to safety. There was a cake and the narrator wakes up with his head in said cake.

ch 19 pg 148

Driver tells narrator he just had a near life experience. But they got work to do.  4 human sacrifices and they gotta pick up fat for soap.  They go to a medical waste dump and steal fat left over from liposuctions.

ch 20 pg 151  

Narrator is pressing a gun against the head of Raymond Hessel.  This is part of a human sacrifice.  He's gotta bring back 12 drivers licenses to Tyler to prove he did 12 human sacrifices.  Raymond Hessel works at a minimart.  Narrator was waiting for him when his shift ended.  He takes Raymond's wallet.  His whole 14 dollars.  A picture of his mom and dad narrator makes him look at with a gun in his face.  Raymond K Hessel who lives in a crappy basement apartment starts crying.  He demands Ray tell him what he wants to be when he grows up.  Raymond, who's 23, says he wants to be a vet.  He takes his ID and gives him his wallet back.  He says he's gonna check back.  If he's not back in school trying to become a vet, he will kill him.  So this is a human sacrifice.  You act like you're going to kill someone to motivate them to change their life in a possitive way.

Ch 21 pg 156

Narrator is doing his job.  Flying around to look at the cars that people have died in.  He goes to these bars on the road and they're all fight club bars.  Beat up guys with broken noses and stitches around their eye sockets.  He asks about Tyler and is told they've never heard of him... ...Sir.   He seems to be really developing a friendship with Marla.  He calls her when he's on the road to talk to her about what's going on at the Paper street house.  He goes to a bar in Seattle and the bartender says welcome back sir.  He's never been to this bar.  He asks about Tyler and the bartender says you stopped in last week Mr. Durden.  IT"S HAPPENING!!!!  Narrator is in disbelief as the barteneder is telling him about all this fightclub business.  Until the barteneder tells him about the foot birthmark.  Only Marla knows about the foot birthmark because he told her about it durring the cancer scare.  Bartender says everyone in Project Mayhem knows about the foot birthmark.

Narrator calls Marla to ask if they've ever had sex.  She calls him a piece of shit and a flake.  She tells him they met at testicular cancer support group and then he saved her life.  He asks her what her name is and she says his name is Tyler Durden.  

ch 22 pg 162

He tries to sleep.  He's not very good at it.  Counting sheep, thinking about Ireland, none of it works.  He just lies there wishing he could sleep.  Then Tyler is there and narrator asks if Tyler has been following him.  Tyler says he was gonna ask the same thing.  Tyler reminds Narrator that he promised not to talk to other people about him and he broke that promise.  When Narrator sleeps Tyler runs off and does things.  Project Mayhem is all over now.  Seattle, Chicago, Los Angeles, Detroit, Washington DC, big time project mayhem in Chicago.  The first rule is you don't talk about fight club.  

The Seattle police comissioner was going to shut down fightclub in Seattle.  Narrator asks what Tyler did about it.  Tyler says, what did we do about it?  Tyler talks about how there is no you and me anymore.  You get that right ? We share a body but at different times.  What they did about the police comissioner is cut off his testicles.  Not really, but the had him held down and a knife and totally could have.  But instead they cut the rubber bnad they had wrapped around them, cutting off all feeling.  They don't expect any fight club crack down.

That was a homework assignment.  These homework assignments, they bring these fight clubbers into project mayhem.  

Tyler tells narrator that if he tries to shutdown Tyler in any way, he'l pay for it.  Don't get any smart ideas like taking a handful of sleeping pills or chaining yourself to the bed or anything.

ch 23 pg 169

Narrator goes back to the paper street house and talks to Marla.  He tries to take her to a resturant to get some privacy so they can talk.  He orders two coffees.  Unfortunately, the waiter is a project mayem guy.  He tells narrator everything he wants is on the house, SIR.  So Marla orders all sorts of stuff.  Narrator specifies "clean" food and waiter says, in that case no Clam chowder. Marla wants to know why the special treatment?  Narrator says it's cause he thinks he's Tyler Durden.  At which she says, you are Tyler Durden.  Then he goes and explains the whole multiple personality thing and how he needs Marla to keep him awake because if he falls asleep, Tyler will take over.  In the circumstance that he does fall asleep, he needs Marla to follow Tyler around so that when Narrator takes over again, maybe he can undo some of the damage Tyler has done.

ch 24 pg 176

Big Bob is dead.  He was doing a homework assignment.  Something that's so common they have a name for it.  Chill and drill.  You spray coolant into lock.  Then you destroy the lock and then pump in something amusing like lube or pudding or whatever amuses you the most.  Hammer and chissel is a common way to break the lock.  But the more popular way is with a handheld drill.  Hense the chill and drill.  Big Bob was using a drill.  The cops thought it was a gun so they shot him.  

He is now imortalized in fight club and project Mayhem.  His name is Robert Paulson, his name is Robert Paulson.

Narrator goes to fight club to shut it down.  He tells them fight club is cancelled.  They don't respond to him.  They just state the rules of fightclub.  Then they ask him to clear the fighting area for the first fight.  Then they grab him and throw him out.  Fight club moves on without him.

ch 25 pg 181

They go to hide out at Marla's place.  But Project Mayhem knows they're there because the guy working the front desk is project mayhem.  They're trying to come up with ideas of other places to go.  Bowling alley is open all ngiht, probably a project mayhem guy there that wouild let htem bowl for free.  Marla has an idea, with all these people giving him free stuff, maybe they go on a bit of a shopping spree.  Narrator says forget about it.  But she's gotta run and save herself.  Cause he likes her.  She says "not love?" and he's like "don't push it."

ch 26 pg 184

Narrator goes to work.  He sees the third floor, his floor, has been blown up.  He knows how it was done.  You dril a hole into the top fo a computer monitor.  Pour in some Napalm.  Seal it up.  When someone turns on that monitor.  Big explosion.  He doesn't get off the bus.  Just takes it to the end of the line cause he doesn't know what to do with himself.  The bus driver pulls out a sandwhich to eat.  Narrator is thinking about his options.  He's not sure what to do.  That decision kinda gets made for him when he realizes that there's twenty people on the bus and they've all got shaved heads.  This is a project mayhem buss.  They've come for him because he tried to shutdown fight club.  They were told, if ANYONE tries to shut down fightclub, even Tyler, they've gotta get his nuts.  So that's what they're doing.  They're gonna grab him and they're gonna cut his nuts off.  He tries to dive out a window.  But Bus windows are hard to dive out of.  They get a hold of him to drag him back in.  He feels his shoes and pants come off.  Now he can feel the sharp metal window cutting into his stomache.  He starts trying to do the blarney stone meditation thing where he's not there anymore so he can't feel his pain.

ch 27 pg 192

He comes to and he still has his balls.  He's back in his old burned out shell of an apartment.  Fifteen stories up.  He's thinking about his space monkey life.  Follwoing orders.  He considers jumping to his death.  Why not?  Marla, she loves him.  He at least needs to tell Marla to get out.  It's his fault she's in this.  If she needs to be saved, he should save her.  He goes down to the lbby.  The doorman who never liked him when he lived here says Good Evening Mr. Durden.  He calls Marla and tells her to meet him where they first met.  They meet at the bowel cancer support group in the basement of first methodist.  Marla's very angry with narrator.  She knows he killed someone.  She's called the cops and they'll be here any minute.

Narrator isn't too worried about the cops cause most of them are project mayhem.  He tries to explain that it's Tyler that killed his boss.  She's not talking about that.  She followed him to a murder mystery party and she saw him shoot a guy.  All the cancer support group people are facinated.  Narrator says Marla needs to run.  He's going to go take care of Tyler.

ch 28 pg 198

Patrick Madden was the guy Tyler shot.  He's the Mayor's special envoy for recycling.  Narrator goes to fight club and he declares he's gonna fight everyone.  All fifty fights that night are him and another guy.  This is suicide via fight club.  As he's getting destroyed fight after fight he's remembering things Tyler did.  Specifically shooting Patrick.  Patrick's wife said the blood looked too red.  But then Patrick didn't get up and she told him to stop being dead.  He didn't.

ch 29 pg 202

Narrator wakes up and Tyler is there.  They're in the paper street house and it's been emptied out.  Tyler talks about their death scene.  At the top of the tallest building.  Taken over by prject mayhem.  some floors are burning with smoke pouring out the windows.  Others have project mayhem guys in them throwing things out the windows.  Tyler drags him out to a waiting car that takes them to the Parker MOrris building.  Narrator knows the building will be blown up in ten minutes.  He knows this because Tyler knows this.  

Marla shows up with a bunch of support group people.  At this point he's on the roof holding the gun in his own mouth while people are telling him not to do it.  She says she came here to save him because she likes him too.  He says she likes Tyler.  Nope, she can tell the difference and she likes him.   He pulls the trigger.

ch 30 pg 206

Narrator says he's dead now.  He's in heaven.  The angels have a strict organization and they bring him food on a tray with a cup of pills.  God asks him what he remembers.  He says he remembers everything.  Not jsut what he used to remember, but what Tyler remembered too.  He calls Marla from heaven.  He asks her to tell him every little thing.  The angels, they come to him with black eyes or a swollen forehead and says we miss you Mr. Durden.  We're looking forward to your return.  Everything is going to plan.

fight club ch 9 through 17

ch 9 pg 74

The narrator is suffering through his chemical burn.  He's trying to overcome the feeling of pain through meditation.  Tyler encourages him to stop that nonsense and focus on his pain.  There's talk of pee.  On the blarny stone, in creme angelese.  The narrator pees his pants and Tyler pours vineger on the hand to nutrilize the chemical burn.  

ch 10 pg 79

The narrator and tyler are working a catering job.  Tyler is peeing in soup.  Tyler once put a note amidst a rich lady's prefume bottles at a house he was doing a catering job at saying he'd peed in one of her perfume bottles.  Tyler told all the rest of the caterers that he'd done this.  He declared that they should tattle on him so he'd get fired.  The best thing that could happen to them is they could get fired.  Then maybe they can start doing something with their lives.  The pee note drove the rich lady nuts.  She smashed all her perfume bottiles in the toilet until her hands were bleeding.  She had to be taken away for her own safety.

ch 11 pg 86

Tyler and the narrator are eating Chinese food in an impala.  They just bought this impala.  Why? They need a car that's good to sleep in.  Why? Because Marla has taken over their house.  They're worried she's going to do very bad things to them and the house.  Why?  Because they boiled her mother.  Not her whole,  just some of the fat her mother sent her for lip pumping and dewrinkling purposes.  Tyler used it to make soap.  Soap he's selling to nordstroms for a small fortune.  With this soap money the narrator is hoping he can quit his job.

Ch 12 pg 95

Narrator's boss has the fight club rules in a piece of paper.  Tyler told Narrator to make 10 copies.  The boss has the narrator s orogional.  Why the he'll did Tyler need ten copies?  The narrator suggests that whoever wrote that list might go postal on the office of the boss pushes the issue.  The punchline being that the boss shouldnt bRing every odd piece of paper to him and harass him about it.  narrator goes to the testicular cancer care support group and the only one there is big Bob.  The narrator thought maybe Bob as dead.  Bob thought the same thing about the narrator.  But back to what's important.  Where is everyone?  They've got something new.  The first two rules of which are that he can't talk about it.  This freaks the narrator out a bit cause Bob talks about all these fight clubs he is completely unaware of.  Then Bob asks if he knows Tyler Durden.

Ch 13 pg 102

Marla calls our narrator and he goes over to her place.  She lives on meals on wheels that get delivered to her dead neighbors.  She found a lump in her breast and she wants narrator to check.  He does this and in the midst of it he tells the story of the time he had a wort removed from his penis at a medical school.  At one point a bunch of folk come in to look at his foot cause they think he makes guy have this new cancer that's manifesting in young men as red splotches on their feet.  It wasn't cancer.  He didn't find a lump in Marla's breast.  Fun side thing.  He has gone ice skating with his grandpa on thanksgiving every year until this one.

Ch 14 pg 107

It was another breast lump scare that motivated Marla to start going to support groups.  She found a lump and went to the free clinic to have it checked out.  But she got scared and.left cause she's rather not kniw.  She decided to go to support groups instead.  At one point she had a job.  At a funeral home.  Made me think of Sandy.  The cops call narrator to tell him his apartment was blown up by home made dynamite.  Tyler is talking a bunch of anti possession liberation stuff while the narrator is on the phone.  He says just tell them you blew it up. That's what they want to hear.  Narrator tells the cop he loved every possession in the condo.  That wasn't just stuff that blew up in there.  It was him.

Ch 15 pg 112

Tyler is getting fired by the protectionist union.  He says that's fine as long as they keep paying him.  If they don't he's going to tell the press about the pornography that's getting spliced into family films.  The union guy is not pleased and punches Tyler a lot.  But Tyler gets the money. Narrator is told by Tyler to do the same with the manager of the pressman hotel where they've been doing catering jobs and befowling the food.  The hotel manager doesn't seem to believe narrator.  So narrator picks up the phone and calls the paper and starts to tell them about his class warfare campaign of peeing in rich peoples food.  The hotel manager takes the phone and hangs it up.  At this point narrator punches himself.  It reminds him of his first fight with Tyler.  He punches himself a bunch more and throws himself through a glass set of shelves.  He's really beat to help when the security guy comes in to she him holding onto the managers belt begging him to stop.  Now they don't have to work nights so they can focus on fight club.  There are now 23 fight clubs.

Ch 16 pg 118

Tyler has kicked figgtclub up a notch and now they're trying to destroy society via something he calls project mayhem.  Project mayhem has five rules.  

1. Don't ask questions

2. Don't ask questions

3. No excuses.

4 no.lies

5 trust Tyler

They do things like blow up offices in large byulsings to be the eyes of a monstrous face they spray paint on the side of the building.  They go out and pick fights and lose them on purpose.  They do.lots of random violence and destruction.  The idea is to make society hit rock bottom just like fight club makes individual people hit rock bottom.  In a way this in the narrator's fault.  There was one night where he beat the hell out of a new guy at fightclub.  He wanted to do more than that.  He wanted to destroy all the beautiful things he couldn't have and he took it out on this new guy cause he was a pretty boy.  Tyler knew at that moment fight club was broken.  He could shut it down or take it up a notch.  Up a notch is project mayhem.

CH 17 pg 127

Narrator's boss finds another suspicious paper on the copy machine.  It's a list of the required items for an applicant.  These people come to the paper street house.  They're applying to live there.  Or maybe this is applying for project mayhem.  It's not clear.  New applicants are discouraged and not let into the house.  They just wait on the porch.  If they do it for three days they're accepted.  Notable accepteds are big Bob and angel face narrator beat up.  Lots of guys from fight club have come to gave up their lives to Tyler.  He has built bunk beds in the basement.  Room for 72 in the basement.  They're making soap and growing herbs to put into soap.  Some guys are responsible for stealing fat time make soap with.  Everyone knows their job.  Clean toilets, clean bowls, tend the garden. Etc.  Everyone does their little job.  Narrator assumes Tyler has the full loan and only he knows it.  He's been fine for a while.  He goes to fight clubs and asks if anyone has seen Tyler.  Gets a lot of responses like "none of us has ever met Tyler Burden, SIR. *WINK*"  Narrator hangs out with Marla and eats peanut butter sandwiches and drinks vodka and misses Tyler now.  He's sad and his life is ending one hour at a time.

Cibola Burn begining through ch 19

 Prologue BOBBIE!!!!

SHE'S marveling at the news of the portals to ten thousand solar systems.  Pictures are coming in of some of the solar systems.  A better tells her he's veteran, her response: find another story.  I could imagine her clapping along with each word.  Bobbie is pissed off at this guy's attempt at stolen valer because she works with vets getting them jobs and what not.  she's going to her brother's house for dinner.  The streets are.emptier than usual.  People are leaving mars for the portals to unknown solar systems.  When she gets to her brother's he's having a bit of an argument with his son (bobbies nephew) about whether it's better to stick around and terrafor m Mars or go to some other system.  There's already a colony they're calling new Terra that people are all excited about.  Breaking news: tragedy on New Terra.

Ch 1 Basia pg 7

This is Prax's friend from Ganymede who bailed when Prax was still fighting tooth and nail to find Mei.  He's gotten a little radicalized since we last saw him.  He's making bombs and he's gonna blow up the big corporations landing pad here on Ilus (which he refuses to call.New Terra) so they can't take over.  Problem, said ships are coming NOW.  Nontime.to finish setting up properly.  They blow the bomb and one of the shuttles gets impacted by the blast.  Now they won't just come, they're gonna come guns blazing.

Chapter Two: Elvi pg 17

Elvi is a lady.  A biologist.  She's on a shuttle down to new Terra.  She's with the big corporations come to take over.  The new governor is on the shuttle with her.  A Mr Trying.  He seems like a good guy.  There is a loud noise and the shuttle shakes a bit.  The captain tells them there is a problem with the landing pad and they are going to find another place to.land.  Elvi isn't buying it.  Something is really wrong.  The guy in the seat next to her is named Eric.  They crash.  Eric dies.  So does governor Trying.

Chapter Three: Havelock pg 28

Havelock's back.  Miller's partner from book 1 is back.  Awesome.  He's served my on the ship sent by the big corporations to take over New Terra.

He must be high in the ranks cause he's having private conversation with the captain about their plans to react to the bombing.  Their request for latitude in how they treat the initial settlers (they call them squaters) has been denied.  They have to be friendly.

Interlude: The Investigator pg 37

This is cool, it's talking about the inner workings of the protomolecule structures.  How it's not really thinking.  Not really capable.of thought.  It's just capable of its ET phone home programming.  But no one is there to answer.  So it keeps generating power and phone home.  There are fragments of the people it absorbed in that station I can't remember the name of.  Flipping through memories.  Closer to thinking, but not really so the station doesn't use them.  But it has Miller, he was the last one to be absorbed and is the most intact.  The protomolecule used him to reach out and communicate.  He found Holden and that served some sort of purpose.  But that doesn't change any of the core of what it is and does.  Get power, phone home repeat.

Ch 4 Holden pg 40

Miller is there he's talking to Holden as he makes his way to Fred's office on the Medina, which used to be called the Behemoth and before that was called the navu.  They are really trying to make a run at it being a sustainable place to.live.  Planting plants and what not.  

Fred shows him a video of Avasarala saying she wants Holden to go to New Terra and be a mediator between the belters that settled the planet and the big corporation that has the pass from the U.N. To.legally settle.The planet.  Holden doesn't love the idea.  

Miller says he should do it.  That makes Holden very nervous because he doesn't trust the protomolecule.  Miller says he just wants to find the aliens that created the protomolecule.  Doesn't seem that threatening, but that's also what it was doing when it killed thousands of people in the last book when they committed the crime of curiosity and went into the ring.  

Avasarala is offering them double their normal rate so the crew is all for it.  They talk about other plusses and minuses.  But when it comes down to it, the money is good.

Ch 5 basia pg 55

Basis is talking to some of the folks that were in on the bombing about what to do next.  They talk about James Holden coming to moderate between the.locals and the corporation.  The basic idea is money is what matters most.  So they're gonna redouble their efforts to mine the lithium so they can send a full ship back ASAP.  Basia's daughter wants to go back to Earth 🌎 solar system to go to college.  He is adamantly against it.  They all stay here on New Terra, which he refuses to call New Terra.

Ch 6 elvi pg 61

Elvi is watching a "lizard" hunt a "bird" in the jungle.  These words are approximations because we are on an alien world and the animals are very different from earth animals.  To show how different it is, the lizard kind of turns itself inside out to eat the bird and then turns itself right side in again to digest it.  I think some squids do that.

They are having a meeting between the locals and the corporation people.  Talking about doing what needs to be done for science.  Don't contaminate yourself too much with the stuff you ingest from the planet.  Don't contaminate the environment of the planet too much with your shit.  Basia loses his cool at this cause he doesn't like being told what to do.  They leave and as they do Basia's daughter wants to talk to Elvi.  She asks what it's like to go to college.

Ch 7 Holden pg 71

They go through the ring and over to another solar syste m with no fanfare.  Almost to Ilus. New Terra. Bering Survey Four. RCE charter 24771912-F23.  Only 73 days at high burn to get there from the portal.

Holden is getting messages from everyone on Ilus and they are all equally annoying.  They still have seventy days to go and he has no intention of making any decisions until he gets there and has a good look around.  Naomi isn't going down to the planet with Holden.  It's a little sad.

Holden has a talk with Miller.  He wants to know how he's able to communicate with him.  Miller explains that there's some protomolecule on the ship from the monster that was on the ship.  So that's why Miller can always talk to Holden on the Ricante. He also wants to know what Miller wants on Ilus.  He repeats that he's trying to figure out who killed the sender's of the protomolecule.

Chapter Eight: Elvi pg 80

There's a sandstorm.  They regularly have sandstorm in the afternoon that last til dusk.  Elvi is talking to Basia's daughter.  Mostly about how fake this planet is.  From the purity of the.lithium to the flatness of the plain, this planet was made this way.  Like the terrafor Ming on Mars but WAY more advanced.  Basia's daughter abruptly asks for a recommendation letter for.university.  Elvi is a little unsure, she doesn't have any idea of her academic background.  The other scientist poo poos this saying they faked their recommendation.letters and if Elvi doesn't write the letter he will.

Elvi sees that there are people in the alien 👽 ruins and it's pissing her off.  So she's gonna go find these people and give them the riot act.  But she doesn't find.people, what she finds is a stockpile of explosives.

 Chapter Nine: Basia pg 88

Basia is full of guilt over the shuttle explosion.  He's working hard in the mine because it keeps his mind off of it.

The locals saw Elvi go into the ruins.  Coop says they gotta get down there and get rid of the evidence.  Instead, an RCE Security team shows up and they kill them all and bury the m out back.

Chapter Ten: Havelock pg 97

Things down on the planet are bad. havlock is talking to one of the science people donw there. They're super scared. They think the locals are minutes away from blowing up their building. They're going down to do a rescue. No holds bared. The people down there aren't just scared, they're hungry. so the rescue team is also gonna bring some sandwhiches 

 ch 11 holden 

The rocinante is targeting the beth isrela ( the earth comapny RCE ship) with their weapons holden makes some lame excuse holden tells Alex to cut that out They land and there's nobody there to great them They make their way into town and the cononists and the RCE folks are facing off A cononist makes some threats at an RCE guy and the RCE guy shoots him in the head Holden is not having it with the RCE guy. That guy's going to jail. Holden is gonna make sure of it. The RCE guy doesn't care. He's already lost twenty people. He needs to make sure that those people stay alive long enough to end up in jail. Amos and the RCE guy have a bit of a stare down. It's very good. Interlude, the investigator the protomolecule (if that's what we're still calling it) is still reaching out unhaltingly. it doesn't think, it just does 

 Ch 12 Basia 

They might have already gone too far. Like the RCE guy said, 20 already dead. There might not be coming back from that. But Holden's here. Holden saved all the children on Ganamyde. Maybe he can save them. Royal Charter Energy has landed, not Holden. They've been given shoot first authorization. Carol is all pissed. This is our world. You can't just land and tell us it's ok for you to shoot us. The guy that got shot in the head was Coop. Basia doesn't feel bad about it. Basia's wife tells him he's totally screwed. They're gonna take him away and lock him up and she'll never forgive him for it. The colony people are meeting. They're all pissed about Coop. They're getting all riled up. Basia's sick of it. He stands up and tells everyone else to shutup. Everyone needs to sit down and shutup and let Holden do his job. Right now, they look like the victims cause HOlden saw an RCE guy shoot a colonist in cold blood. The plan is Basia's gonna talk to Holden about his dead son from Ganamyde. Basia sees someone running around his house. He's a little scared. But it's his daughter. She's going up on the next shuttle. She's gonna go to Luna join the premed program.  Basia says she's not.

 ch 13 elvi

Elvi is talking to one of the RCE Security guys.  Holden wants to talk to Elvi and the RCE guy makes it clear that her job is to make sure Holden knows the colonists are terrorists. There aren't two sides to this thing.  There's just RCE creating a society.The locals are just terrorists that need to be taken away.

Elvi is talking to Holden.  Lots of scientific talk about how their earth experience mithe not work with the biosphere here.  She's pissed off that the locals are contaminate the new planet already.  And it's likely the planet is also contaminating them.  But because we're so busy killing each other we aren't doing the proper science to know how much.

Ch 14 Holden

Holden is holding talks between the colonists and the RCE people.  Lots of blaiming for who's responsible for the violence.  Coo p was behind the murdered RCE employees.  He was the right guy to kill.  But there's no proof of that.  So it's hard to know what's what.

Carol says if they can't ship the lithium back to Earth and get paid they're done.  So as long as RCE stalls they win.  Holden says they're allowed to keep mining.  But the ship doesn't go anywhere until mining rights have been agreed on by the UN.  

Amos looks like a big baby.  

Holden goes for a walk.  Miller shows up.  All doom and gloom about Holden's chances of brokering peace.  This thing is gonna end bloody.  This place was already a crime scene before any people got here.  The protomolecule people were here and just disappeared.  Whatever killed them might come back and kill everyone.  Miller's still looking for the.protomolecule aliens just like he.looked for.Julie.

Basia is waiting for Holden at the edge of town.  Tells him about his kid.  He is friend with Prax.  Or used to be.  Probably haven't talked since.  Basia says he came here to keep his family safe.Holden tells him it's an alien world.They don't understand.  There's probably nowhere lepse.less safe.

Ch 15 Havelock

he's looking at the planet and there's sooooo much lan d.  But They're fighting over this one spot in the high desert cause that's where the lithium mine is.

why not set up a different colony somewhere warm and nice.  By the beach.  

The RCE guy in charge Mercer isn't interested.  He's a jackbooted thug and now he's super psyched that he has the chance to violently take over and I guess become a fascist dictator.  He tells Havelock to organize some zero g strike teams.  He wants to take over the rocinante and the colony ship with the lithium.

Havelock is talking to the capitain.  The captain is thinking long term.  If this thing gets further out of control, Fred Johnson might send through ships with missles and the captain doesn't wanna be thought of as a target.

Ch 16 Elvi

something large is moving around and creating energy.  HOlden wants her to come along to check it out.  Thinking it might be protomolecule related.  They find a big protomolecule bug.  Looks like it's terraforming.  Wei, one of the RCE people, shoots at it with her gun.  She Looks to have been successful.  

Ch 17 Basia 

The colonists are talking about further violence.  Basia is thinking he's in the wrong team.  They are just gonna keep killing RCE people until it becomes too costly and RCE gives up.  Basia mentions that if RCE strikes back it'll be their children that are dead and pictures of their dead children that might win the PR war.  Basia's a bit worried that he might be collateral damage.  Kate would be happy to kill him.

Lucia, Basia's wife tells him their daughter is leaving to go to bed school. She says he's got to let her go. He runs to the shuttle.  He has to say good bye.  Let her know he loves her and supports her.  Mostly cause she will be much safer on Luna than here.

Basia goes to find Holden.  He warns him about the colonists terrorists that are planning to kill more RCE people and Holden.  They are angry about the explosives.  Holden says we're leaving the planet.  Holden tells Basia that the alien 👽 shit is waking up and Holden wants to get out before it kills him.

Ch 18 Holden

He tells RCE and the colonists that it's time to go.  He's got the only war ship so what he says goes.  Holden isn't here to take sides.

the RCE guy Mertree basically tells him to fuck off.  Holden is thinking he's gonna have to kill Mertree while Carol tries to skootch out of the room.  Mertree has the whole town bugged.  So he knows all about the colonists terrorists attack plan.  RCE people are firing at a house.  People inside are shootIng back.  The house is on fire now.  

Basia is arrested for his part in the planning and the landing pad bombing.  Holden says he will take Basia because Mertree will try to kill Basia.  So Basia is Holden's problem now.  Alex has found more activity of protomolecule activity but it's a ways away from the site.  Holden tells Naomi to be prepared for all out war with the RCE ship.

Ch 19 Havelock

They are training for zero g combat.  He thinks they might be useful in a week or so. They talk a lot of mess.

The hot spots on the planet are worrisome.  There's an engineer that's a better is having his stuff pissed on.  It's obviously anti belter racism.   but Havelock doesn't wanna admit that.  He puts a monitor on the locker.

Havelock writes the memo and then rewrites it to call out the anti belter activity.
